Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

Love me some Tina Fey

Where does Bossypants rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was one of the better books I have listened to. I was truly sad when it was over.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked hearing the rough side of Tina Fey. Hearing her struggle as she did, both with herself and with the world. I felt a connection.

What about Tina Fey’s performance did you like?

She knows herself well! I loved her comments that were "off camera" so to speak, almost mumbled, but still perfectly clear. It felt like I was having a conversation with a lousy listener.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There was a scene with Oprah Winfrey and Tina is juggling a million things and Oprah comments on her schedule - Tina Fey says "When Oprah Winfrey thinks you are too busy, you REALLY need to look at your life".
I have heard that in my head DAILY since then! Love it!

Any additional comments?

Not a book if you want to hear Tina Fey do stand-up, but a great book to get to know her as a person. A funny, wonderful, smart, passionate, imperfect person.

Great listening to Tina read her own words

What did you love best about Bossypants?

Tina's narration sounds like she is just speaking to you, instead of reading her book. In fact, there are a few times where she addresses the listener directly making me think that she added in things as she did the reading. It is very entertaining.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossypants?

Learning about her reluctance to play Sarah Palin.

Beautifully honest and entertaining

Tina has a wonderful grasp on finding a balance between humor and real talk.
She tells of her humorous and unique childhood and takes us through the struggles of her come up.

If You Are A Fan...

...of Tina Fey, 30 Rock, SNL... you should listen to this. She really is FUNNY (I didn't ever have any doubt)! For Girls or Boys or anything in between. You'll love it! (and it's narrated by her...! it couldn't get any better if Sarah Pallin narrated it)

Tina Fey as We Know Her

What did you love best about Bossypants?

Tina Fey was absolutely hilarious and I laughed out loud.

What about Tina Fey’s performance did you like?

It's Tiny Fey! I loved everything about her performance. It never felt like a narration. It just felt like she was talking to a friend about her life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

LAUGH a ton.

Any additional comments?

This was a great introduction to audiobooks, against which I will compare all other books to come.

Hilarious!

This book is hilarious. Tina Fey is so witty and delightful, I find her refreshingly charming! Her silly little remarks to her own book are very entertaining. I would rate this 6 stars if I could. I have been telling everyone I know to check this book out, you will NOT be disappointed!!

As funny as any one skit,...

...but much more endearing. A well rounded memoir played for comic effect. Her asides and disclaimers were hilarious.
