Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

A new favorite

I was recently in a slump. The last few books I've listened to had me wondering if maybe I'm no longer that into audiobooks. I went through 2 books with very high ratings all the while seeing how much time there was left. They felt like semi-interesting obligations. Then I started Bossypants. I was hooked from the very beginning to the end. It's everything I could have hoped for including restoring my hope in good books. I can't remember the last time I wanted a books to be longer.

Great Book, entertaining, and i was able to relate

Would you consider the audio edition of Bossypants to be better than the print version?

yes. Tina reads it herself & she adds the little tidbits of information that make this book so much more enjoyable. Shes has got a great voice.

What did you like best about this story?

Her talks about learning improv, going to the acting classes, being a working mother and the sarah palin part.

What about Tina Fey’s performance did you like?

how entertaing she made the book, I looked forward to getting 5 minutes away from my kids to sneak in a little quite me time listening to Bossy Pants. She is so funny and its almost like i can see her facial expressions as she read the book.that is from the fact that 30 rock is my #1 favorite show.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, but being a working mother that wasnt able to happen. i heard it in small peices from 5 minutes to 1/2 hour at a time .

Any additional comments?

great book, wish she had more books.

Does Not Disappoint

Oh, Tina Fey, you live up to your reputation as a smart, strong, witty HAM (of the metaphorical variety, not the swine variety). ;oD This book had me laughing out loud as I completed my morning jogs...I am sure people thought I was insane. The biggest asset, to me, is how she can make a point without making a point. By deflecting what you might be "expecting to hear next" with humor, it makes the point even funnier. Okay...one last thing...Piss Jugs! REALLY???? Ew!

Tina Fey Charms

I may not be able to relate to Tina's political views, and I have never seen 30 Rock, but this book is hilarious. It's filled with stories that, in my opinion, any woman can relate to in one way or another. I plan on listening to this audiobook again!

Laughed all the way to the office!

Would you consider the audio edition of Bossypants to be better than the print version?

i didn't read the print version, but i have to say, listening to Tina Fey read her book made it so memorable. There were so many laugh out loud moments listening to her describe things - especially, her honeymoon! hahaha...it was great all around. She is so smart and funny.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossypants?

Her talking about the excursion on her honeymoon, and then topping that off describing the fire!

Which scene was your favorite?

the same scene i have mentioned twice already - especially her use of the german accent!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

i listened to in over a week on my 45 minute commute each way to my office.

Loved it!

Tina Fey has the same struggles as any other working Mom, but somehow it's much funnier when she tells it! This book is delightfully funny, irreverent, and feminist. I didn't want it to end :)

Heavy on laughs, light on cohesive story line

Would you consider the audio edition of Bossypants to be better than the print version?

Very funny, enjoyable book with great narration and some interesting insights / points from Tina's life. It is, however, written by an imrpov sketch artist... and it feels like it. Each chapter might be enjoyable, but you'll often find yourself wondering how it related to the previous or sometimes why it belongs in the book.

I'm 100% awesomer thanks to this book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

First off, I love listening to books read by the author. And this one was throughly entertaining and enlightening. It made me - a sheltered good-girl - feel validated and way less lame. I'm inspired to follow my ambitious heart. Thanks for the awesomeness Tina Fey.
