Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

Love it

Tina Fey is honest and relates to every woman. I love her humility and candor. I laughed the entire way through it. If you want to feel good as a woman and laugh read this AND Amy Poehler's book Yes Please.

i love tina fey!

If you could sum up Bossypants in three words, what would they be?

Hilarious, witty, and as real as it gets. I enjoyed every minute of this and it really made it that much funnier to hear Tina Fey reading every word as she meant it.

What's not to love?

I've seen a few episodes of 30 Rock, and loved the skits as Sarah Palin on SNL, but I was not expecting this book to be outrageously entertaining. Silly me. There were moments when I laughed so hard, it hurt.

Good stuff.

Wonderful Laugh Out Loud Kind of Book

I listen to books on the way to and from work. I was late several mornings for sitting in my car in the parking lot. I just couldn't turn it off. Loved it!

A great book by a smart and fun, masterfully read!

I loved this book! My adoration of Tina Fey multiplied by the second as I listened. Funny, honest, self-depricating, irreverent. A really great listen.

Laughed out loud

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I already have recommended it a few times. The book is just plain fun! Tina's navigation through teenaged theater, career, and motherhood resonated with me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tina, of course!

Have you listened to any of Tina Fey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was moved by Tina's obvious love for her parents and all of her family. But mostly, I was just moved to laughter and there isn't anybody that can't benefit from a good laugh.

Exactly What I'd Hoped For!

Tina Fey is funny, and inspired. She has a distinct point of view, brilliantly comical in it's delivery, while at the same time standing for a cause. I know some of you did not like it, but I LOVED it. She was my friend in the morning as I rode the 6 train to work and helped me not to sweat my sweat, running on the treadmill at the gym. I would recommend this to anyone with a funnybone in their body. She's a great listen no matter what you are doing. I can't wait to hear more from her! Rock on Tina Fey!!!

Fantastic in audio!

I love Tina Fey's way of telling a story, and while her stories are hilarious, listening to her tell them absolutely makes her book. She's not condescending, pretentious or fake - she is a genuinely funny person, and that comes out in her manner of speech. It sounds more like she's out to coffee with you and is sitting across the table, filling you in on her disastrous honeymoon, among other things. The book is fantastic, yes, but please get the audio book, as this is the best way to experience her book.
