Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

CREDITS...

What did you love best about Bossypants?

The book is an easy light read with what seems like an honest and true account of her life from childhood to 30 rock. She is normal, no gratuitous sex or vulgar words. She has been fearful at times, is excellent at giving credit to those around her and she survived the whole actress drama scene, which has to be difficult

What did you like best about this story?

The story comes off as honest and therefore relatable. Although I will never struggle with the producer of sat night live or have my life flashed in the tabloids, I am a mother etc. with similar struggles

Have you listened to any of Tina Fey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

CREDITS , Tina Fey is one of the few individuals that actually recognizes how important it is to give credit to those around you. Also credits roll at end of show etc etc

Any additional comments?

I want credit for the title. It is a great choice

Fun Listen

Honestly, this would be an even better book if there was not as much "30 Rock" stuff, but I love Tina and I love everything else about it. She makes me feel like I know her and also, she makes me wish I had the courage and money to write a book.

Great Listen!

Would you consider the audio edition of Bossypants to be better than the print version?

I would. I loved hearing Tina Fey narrate her own book. It added a lot to what was being said.

How cool is Tina Fey? Seriously!

What did you like best about this story?

This book is therapy. After working in a male dominated business, this book made me feel less crazy... of course, I probably looked nuts while I listened to it because I was laughing out loud in public. Hmmm.

Which character – as performed by Tina Fey – was your favorite?

Tina's portrayal of her father, Don Fey, is priceless. I learned that dudes like this book too, when all my co-workers decided that want to be Don Fey.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this book in one sitting and then again in savory little sound bites.

Any additional comments?

Buy this book. It will make you happy.

Very enjoyable

If you could sum up Bossypants in three words, what would they be?

Tina Fey is great. Hearing her stories is fun and provides easy listening that helps keep me feeling light hearted while sitting in miserable traffic.

Awesome.

Had me laughing out loud on the train commute. Tina Fey does a great job reading it. No, wait. That's the wrong word. Tina Fey does a great job telling the stories. If you like her in anything you've ever seen her in (awkward interviews included) you'll enjoy this. Also, if you're a mother, a gay man, a rebellious teenager who is only getting this because your friends think she's stupid, or a person who just wants some laughter in their life. You're in luck.

Inspiring

If you could sum up Bossypants in three words, what would they be?

Three words: Inspiring, Hilarious, Endearing

Any additional comments?

I loved this book and am now a huge Tina Fey fan. I downloaded this audiobook only halfway expecting to like it. Let's just say that Ms. Fey and I are pretty far apart, politically. But despite my politics I loved her imitations of Sarah Palin and she seemd like a really authentic person.

The book is so funny, and yet you really feel like she is a regular person just like you. As a young twentysomething, I was inspired hearing about the many odd jobs she worked after college and how she eventually built her career. I love her approach to life. She has a great attitude about life, about failure, about success. She also speaks very kindly and with a lot of respect about many of those she has worked with, including Mrs. Palin.

Enjoyable, fun and well done!

Would you listen to Bossypants again? Why?

I liked the audiobook, but I don't think I would listen to it again. It was good and I enjoyed Tina Fey as narrator, I rarely listen to this type of book twice.

What other book might you compare Bossypants to and why?

I really enjoyed Rob Lowe's autobiography - Stories I Only Tell My Friends. I highly encourage you to get this one, I liked it even better than Bossy Pants.

What does Tina Fey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tina brought her humor and emotion as it is her story it is great listening to her narrate.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Lots of great and funny moments.
