Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

Tina Fey: What's not to love

Tina Fey is a name everyone has heard, but not necessarily a person people know much about. Her autobiography had me in stitches, and I am so glad she narrated it herself. I can't imaging anyone else doing it. I couldn't "put it down". I will definitely listen to it again in the future, and would highly recommend the audio version to anyone who wants to get Tina's autobiography. There's just something about listening to Tina tell the stories her self that brings them more to life.

Tina is GOOD!

She reads it a little too fast, but who am I to judge...
There are 6-8 spit out / choking funny moments. Beware: she sneaks these on you and they’re a real health risk.
All the other material is more or less your most intelligent friend (if you are lucky enough to have one, and intelligent enough to keep her) giving you the break down of how a woman with a brain life feels like.

Well written, read, and sooo funny! I think this particular title should only be available as an audiobook, you get all the nuances the author intended. Your own private Tina Fey routine.

Amazeballs!

Best takeaway "Is this person in between me and what I want to do?" If the answer is no, ignore it and move on. Your energy is better used doing your work, and outpacing people that way.

Totally Enjoyable, Honest & Funny!

What made the experience of listening to Bossypants the most enjoyable?

I love Tina Fey's ability to be funny while being brutally honest on so many real life issues, from crazy vacations to psycho breastfeeding moms! She put into words what most of us really think in our heads but don't want to say out loud!

What did you like best about this story?

Mostly her sense of humor about life. The story had a good flow and was easy to follow.

What three words best describe Tina Fey’s voice?

kind, smooth, easy

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The parts about her dad.

Any additional comments?

I guess just to say that at the beginning of the story it felt like you could tell she was a bit nervous narrating a book and her flow was a bit awkward. I can only imagine how hard it is to do something like that and I felt myself empathizing with her. As the story went on her you could feel her getting more comfortable with ability and her flow got very easy. As I said in my title totally enjoyable!

This book was meant to be in audio.

As a fan of Tina Fey, I knew the book was going to be funny (and it didn't disappoint). But after listening to her narration of her own material (both alone and with my family), I can't imagine how this book was meant to be anything other than an audio book. It's pitch-perfect and hilarious.
