Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

My Favorite Audio Book Of All Time

What made the experience of listening to Bossypants the most enjoyable?

I was laughing out loud on the New York subway...if you are a New Yorker you know what a faux paux this is but I just couldn't help myself. I love the story, identify with it SO MUCH and Tina Fey tells it better than anyone could.

Funny Fey!

Nice change from historical novels. Made me LOL a few times and take my mind away from work on the commute home.

Tina, will you please and thank you make a sequel?

I loved this audio book so much during my road trip that when I looked down and noticed that there were only 11 minutes left, I paused it and searched for distractions for an hour so it wouldn't have to be over just yet.

HILARIOUS!!!

I have always liked Tina Fey, but know I REALLY like her. She is SOOOO funny and I love hearing this book about her life from HER as the narrator. I love listening to my books when I am doing boring tasks like driving, grocery shopping, etc, but listening to her book and doing this makes you look like a complete nut. I was busting out laughing walking into my conservative office, in the grocery store- while many people were staring at me wondering if I maybe wasn't on my meds :) I really like her view on so many issues, mostly women accepting women and hearing her voice her insecurities (for such an amazing woman) was too funny! Listen to this book when you are ready for lots of laughs- I played parts for my husband who thought it was hilarious too. I have another friend who did the same thing. Everyone I have asked who has read this loved it!

A good chuckle

I always look for the author to be the narrator for books like autobiographies so that you know you're getting all the nuances in the storytelling. Tina Fey does not disappoint when it comes to conveying all the little extra emotions in her stories. But now and then she talks much to quiet in her short, one-sentence sidebars. Even after cranking up the volume, they get muffled and incoherent. It's too bad, since the ones I COULD hear were often quite funny. Overall, a short read that's worth quite a few laughs. Tina is one heckuva performer/writer and it was interesting to hear some of the backstories before her SNL breakout.
