Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

A smart break

I so needed a break from the drama and sadness.of current events and great books I was choosing, and this was the perfect antidote. Real, smart, sassy and hilarious.

Such a great book

I love Tina Fey and this book told in her voice is a lovely tribute to her career and her family and her love of comedy. I learned a lot from her serious advice peppered throughout the book. Hearing about her guilt and pride and sense of purpose/ individuality in being a working mom came at the right time for me as this is something I am also wrestling with. Great book. Very funny. Well worth the listen.

Loved it

Don’t understand the ppl who think there is too much cursing. Maybe I’m just numb but I love the humor and light hearted telling of her story and just what a self aware and comical genius she is which is why I wanted to hear her story. Tina Fey is a humble and hilarious storyteller who doesn’t tell her story with any pomp or ego. Fun listen that I recommend to anyone who appreciates her type of humor.

Tina Fey is the whole package!

Would you listen to Bossypants again? Why?

Tina Fey is so funny! Of course, I've seen her SNL skits and 30 Rock, so this is a great, entertaining autobiography to hear about the woman behind it all. She takes you from her childhood to her days at SNL and 30 Rock. Great sense of humor, introspection, and very engaging!

What does Tina Fey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

There are a lot of so-so narrators with audiobooks and even some of the narrators who are the authors of the book aren't that great. Tina Fey is the exception. She's got a fantastic sense of humor, wit, and honest insight.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh pretty much the entire time I was listening to it.

Outstanding narration by Tina Fey

If you could sum up Bossypants in three words, what would they be?

Laughed out loud

What did you like best about this story?

Listening to Tina Fey read her own words was much better than reading the book - to my surprise - I don't listen to audiobooks very often.

Which character – as performed by Tina Fey – was your favorite?

Herself

This book made me be the crazy person on the bus laughing to myself the whole way to work and the whole way home. If you like funny things and want to be happy, read this book.

Laugh out Loud Funny

Would you consider the audio edition of Bossypants to be better than the print version?

Yes, because Tina Fey does all of her funny impressions

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossypants?

When she's talking about aging and then talks about all the strange things a woman's body does after 35.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

At times I found my self laughing out loud while listening to it at work. This book is funny.

Any additional comments?

Tina Fey is not my favorite comedian or actress, but this audio book was hilarious. I find her more endearing now that I've listened to her story. She's funny and has a sense of what it is like to be a woman not only in show biz, but in everyday life.
