Publisher's summary

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are "a masterpiece" from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL". (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Editor's Pick: Best of the Decade

Tina Fey wears the pants
"I still remember the first time I listened to Bossypants in 2011. I was a recent college grad and my tastes were embarrassingly snobby, but I liked Tina Fey and thought it would just be soooo subversive to listen to a best seller. Imagine my shock when Bossypants showed me how much pure, uncomplicated joy I could get from a book. I never looked back. Before Tina Fey we had Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and Joan Rivers, but Bossypants came at just the right moment when the floodgates were opening for women in comedy. Its best seller status made Tina Fey a household name and paved the way for excellent (hilarious) memoirs that would follow by Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and so many more. Bossypants launched a cultural phenomenon. What I love best about Tina Fey’s book is her voice, both figuratively and literally. It's a joy to spend five and a half straight hours in her brain, hearing her perspective on comedy, career, and crushes gone awry. The audiobook's use of clips from Saturday Night Live was also revolutionary and elevated this memoir to a whole new level. No matter which comedy memoir I end up falling in love with next, Bossypants will always hold a special place in my heart as the first—and the decade’s best."—Rachel S., Audible Editor

You will laugh like crazy!

Where does Bossypants rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

1st.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossypants?

Probably the roller skating in the house bathroom incident.

Have you listened to any of Tina Fey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I would try anything else by her.

Any additional comments?

This book was so funny. I listen on my iphone while walking to the ferry in downtown Seattle. I can't tell you how many funny looks I have received because I am laughing so hard and no one knows what I am laughing about.

Entertaining!

Love that it was narrated by Tina Fey. Who else could tell her story? I have a lot of admiration for her as a woman and I found this book completely entertaining.

I was hooked at the sample...

...and I wasn't disappointed! It was everything you expect from Tina Fey. If you're not a fan of her extremely honest and witty tell-it-like-it-is style, then don't listen; but if you are, enjoy with undivided pleasure. This book is funny, intelligent, real, and insightful. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Made me giggle.

Funny stories and anecdotes from Tina's life and work. No overarching theme or story, a number of funny bits loosely connected, but still a worthwhile listen. Light listening that you don't have to think too hard about. You get a good understanding of the real Tina Fey.

Can't imagine have read this without Tina's voice!

Where does Bossypants rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was my first audible.com audiobook, and it was a great way to kick off my membership! I loved hearing this book in Tina's own voice. It also included so many great extras (e.g., audio clip of her playing Sarah Palin on SNL).

What did you like best about this story?

Because I became a fan of Tina's after seeing her on SNL, it was fun and interesting to hear some behind-the-scenes stories, as well as to learn more about her as a person and not just her TV persona.

What about Tina Fey’s performance did you like?

She's just awesome. Even though I would have read the story in her voice had I not listened to it via audiobook, her actual voice really made a difference. I'm sure it was much funnier thanks to her timing and pace, and the way she added what seemed like extra little comments (not sure these appeared in the physical book?).

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

That may have been nice, but devoting five hours in one sitting is usually pretty difficult. Instead, I planned to listen to it a little bit at a time during my drive to and and from work, and that's exactly what I did. It made me look forward to getting in my car every day!

Any additional comments?

If you're a fan of Tina Fey, or humor in general, I definitely recommend this one! :)

Great listen

Tina Fey is just funny. Period.

This was a great book to listen to while doing suuuuper mundane tasks. Boring housewifery business will no longer be "dull" or "mind numbing" when playing this audio book in the background. Get this book, your dishes will thank you.

Laugh Your Pants Off

First of all, I just love Tina Fey. So if you're not a big fan, don't read it. If you are a fan, or are sort of a fan, or would like to be a fan, then READ IT! Better yet, listen to it via Audible because Tina Fey narrates it. This book is laugh out loud funny and the humor is only accentuated by Tina. By having the author read the book, you experience the story just as she intended. Her inflection of voice and tone are done brilliantly. It's several hours of Tina at her finest. Probably the best memoir I've read. And by probably, I mean it is the best memoir I've read. If you have even the smallest of senses of humor, you'll be glad you purchased this book.
