Publisher's summary

Born Again is the autobiography of one of the most influential men of our time. It is not only a remarkable story of one man's redemption in Christ, but a fascinating look inside the events of one of America's most riveting sagas.

In the 1970s, against the backdrop of the explosive Watergate scandal, Charles Colson revealed the story of his own search for meaning during the tumultuous investigations that led to the collapse of the Nixon administration. A convicted former special counsel to the president, Colson paradoxically found new life - not with success and power, but while in national disgrace and serving a prison sentence.

Sweet Redemption

There’s a reason Chuck Colson’s story has touched millions. He was someone who had everything by the world’s standards. But that could never feel the void. Most everyone can identify with some parts of his story, assuredly the emptiness that is a life without Christ and forgiveness of sin. Praise God for his life and the effect his ministry continues to have.

The best book ever, besides the Bible!

I have no words to adequately describe this book. Although it’s not Chuck reading it, It feels like it is. It is moving, challenging, eye opening: to the power of Jesus, integrity, being completely surrendered in the midst of extreme hardships and the power of the Holy Spirit. It describes Watergate and politics, it speaks to prison life, prison reform and why men and women are there, but most of all the power of God in people’s lives in the midst of the politics of Washington. It talks about the yuck and injustice of prisons and ends with a challenge to believers about our culture. Your life will be challenged and changed by reading this book. I want to read it all over again and anything else by Chuck Colson.

Amazing story

I have listened to this book several times. It is an amazing story if a man saved by grace who turned that change into a ministry that impacted thousands of people otherwise forgotten.

A Story That Provides Great Insight for Today

I thought this would just be Chuck Colson's story about his conversion to Christianity. However, I began to see parallels that gave me insight into how politics work today. Why the Kavanaugh hearings happened the way they did, why racism has become a hot topic, why social justice warriors are becoming so highly publicized, why there is always some kind of investigation going on against Republicans in office. Probably against Democrats as well, though not as fervently. And finally, why our Constitutional Republic will never last without recognizing God as the source of our freedom and liberty. Pride is at the heart of our demise, just as it is at the core of Lucifer's fall. The book "Rules for Radicals" is dedicated to Lucifer, which is fitting, because it is the tactics taught in that book that are at the heart of why innocent public servants go to jail along with the guilty ones. And why our political climate has become increasingly hostile since Watergate. This is a spiritual battle and the Church needs to get more active in our country's governance. Everyone needs to read this book.

Exceptional

a great story with an awesome narrator. You could hear each person talk as he was narrating. and Chuck Colson's account of how God Sovereignly worked through adversity to establish a Ministry to prisoners for the glory of God was inspiring.

Wonderful & Insightful

Only negative is that a few of the later chapters had a different sound quality than the rest.
