Publisher's summary

Notes from a Small Island
After nearly two decades in Britain, Bill Bryson decides to move his wife and kids back to his homeland, the United States. But not before taking one last trip around Britain, a sort of valedictory tour of the green and kindly island that had so long been his home. The result is a hilarious social commentary that conveys the true glory of Britain.

Neither Here nor There
Thirty years after backpacking across Europe, Bryson decides to retrace the journey he undertook in the halcyon days of his youth, carrying with him a bag of maps, old clothes, and a stinging wit honed to razor sharpness by two decades of adult experience.

I'm a Stranger Here Myself
Bryson reads "somewhere" that nearly three million Americans believe they have been abducted by aliens; clearly the Americans need him back. So after years of raising his family in Britain with his English wife, the brood moves to the States, allowing Bill to chronicle the quirkiest aspects of life in America as he reveals his own rules for life.

Amazing book, specially the travel section.

Although the quality is not super HD, maybe because it's an old recording, but it's a great book and a great performance from the author.

poor performance

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

not really, it's indeed entertaining, however, Bill is definitely a terrible narrator, William Roberts is much better.

Very Entertaining!

‘I’m a stranger here myself’ must be among his best works, but I should also state that I’m an American.

Great compilation

I'm trying to cook right now so I'll just say I found this enjoyable and I hope Bryson never stops writing. It's 2022. What's next?

please find someone professional to read the story

I enjoy listening to Bill Bryson’s books, but he is not really the best reader...sometimes the voice is too low to be heard clearly.

Bryson is a modern treasure

Self narration from Bryson himself is like the whip cream on top of his humorous, witty memories. You'll also find many neat facts stuffed in as well.

Quirky and mostly fun

While Bill and I have different takes on a lot of subjects, I enjoyed most of his writing. The parts where he used exaggeration without really clueing the reader/listener in got under my skin. Other times it was obvious, but not always. Perhaps, like him, I am an idiot. I think not, but perhaps.
