When anyone can start a business (when everyone is running their career like a business), it begs a question. This is your one chance at life, you can have anything you want, what is worth doing?
Most people don't know why they're doing what they're doing. They imitate others, go with the flow, and follow paths without making their own.
They spend decades in pursuit of something that someone convinced them they should want, without realizing that it won't make them happy.
Anything You Want is a manifesto about living life, appreciating enough, and doing what matters. It's most of what fabled entrepreneur Derek Sivers learned in ten years of starting and growing a small business, compacted into something you can listen to in an hour and a half. A life worth living starts with knowing your personal philosophy of what makes you happy and what's worth doing.

I really liked his style of explaining things. It finally made a few things click, like what it means to persevere, but not push something that isn't going to work. Awesome stuff.
Entrepreneur & Writer
I would recommend this to anyone looking to use the internet to fulfill a desire burning in them to innovate and do things their way and on their own terms.
Great work, Derek Sivers-it was encouraging and real...I, for one, appreciate the stories that are straight from the 'horse's mouth'!
Traveler. Artist. Dreamer.
This book is easy to understand, it was short, and I have already listened to it a couple of times already. It is a collection of great stories that you can apply to your own situations, but to do it your own way. I think that is why I really liked it, because it doesn't claim to be the only way to do things. Also, he stresses important things, like journaling, to be helpful practice for him without directly pointing it out. I like the way it was read because it was clear and you can really feel how the author meant to portray certain situations.
Absolutely. It's changed my thinking about the work I do. Also, after reading so many books that unnecessarily padded a few simples ideas in order to stretch them to book length, this was refreshing.
I also love the author's voice on this recording, which seems to convey a youthful energy and enthusiasm, free of ego.
Well, I liked Michael Port's book,
Great reading voice.
Yes, and that is rare.
Yes, I will probably listen to it over and over again, the wisdom here is amazing. A diamond in the rough. The brilliance of basic love for your fellow man is the starting point of a buisness that will not quit or give-up, Derek treats all others with the respect of a humbled individual not hung-up on the vises of this present world. If I was to be able to tell you that this is so special indeed, and can not be found in most places. If you love God, People and Self, I mean truly this book is for you, this is not just a business book, it is a life lesson book i will cherish for a very long time!
The whole story is beautiful, revealing, straight forward, giving, trail-blazing!
Yes, he told his heart what more could a listener ask for!
It made me hope, dream, imagine, live!
My deepest hope is that someone reading this would realize that this is not normal actions of a person in this day and age but this is only done by obeying Bible commands like Loving the Lord your God with all your heart Soul and Mind. Loving your neighbor as yourself!
I loved listening to this book, this book is a great example for those people that want to do something great for society, it’s about a guy that wants to start a business to fulfill a necessity for his independent colleagues musicians, the vision and the passion of the entrepreneur transmit on this audiobook will inspire you.
Very short, inspirational, honest account of how CDBaby was created then sold. (CDBaby was a successful early internet company.) He is the kind of guy that would rather be happy than rich and he explores his journey using this criteria. This is so short (1.5hr) and inspirational I will listen to it again. If you like this book you should read "Delivering Happiness" by Tony Hsieh.
A very provocative presentation presented in a disarming, low-key way. Wasn't expecting too much, but Sivers has some good clarity about his personal purpose / drivers, and tells a useful story about how he put that to work for him. Worth a listen.
Quick read, and enjoyable. Not your typical success story, which makes it all the more entertaining and inspirational.
