From her years as a presidential press secretary to her debates with colleagues on Fox News' The Five, Dana Perino reveals the lessons she's learned that have guided her through life, including stories from behind the scenes at the White House with President George W. Bush that the cameras never captured.
Thoughtful, inspiring, and often surprising, And the Good News Is... traces Dana's unlikely journey through politics, the White House, and television. She has an uncanny ability for knowing what to say and how best to say it. A recurring theme in And the Good News Is... is that planning has never worked for Dana; every time she has made a plan, something unexpected - and often better - has happened.
And the Good News Is... blends a candid self-portrait with advice for allowing one's very best personality traits to shine through, emphasizing that dignity and civility are choices we make for ourselves.

This book was aptly titled and it was refreshing to hear tales from the political world free of rancor and vitriol. The narration was done especially well and I had no problem imagining Perino saying the words herself. This is a spoiler (can this kind of book have a spoiler?) but the most interesting reveal was Perino confessing that when confronted by especially nasty media questions at White House press briefings, she would secretly shoot a bird at the antagonist while hiding her hand beneath the lectern. An enjoyable seven-hour listen.
Definitely a must read for anyone interested in improving their position in life. Many of the passages, especially the ones about GWB made my eyes leak a little. Gotta love her honesty and devotion.
Loves a Choice
Fantastic book. I appreciate the candor and the advise. I am purchasing a copy of the book for my extremely bright niece who is just graduating from high school and beginning her life as an adult in college. I believe the insights provided in this book will help guide her path. Thank you Dana for putting your perspective and wisdom into a book for others. And thank you for your service to the country.
Lovely listen. Made me shed tears of pride for the her service stories and tears of joy and sadness for personal triumphs and losses. Dana Perino is truly a roll model for all American women, young and old. I'm a fan of her presence on "The Five" and glad to have had the opportunity to hear what has made her the classy lady she is on the show. The only criticism, is that I would have liked hear it in her own voice. Narration was good, but books read by the author are always preferred.
Thank you, Dana. You took the time to pass wisdom and experience on to other women who are seeking to live out their small roles in this big world. I have been encouraged.
yes, it is a great story
i would have prefered that Dana read it, but the narration was good.
I am on the road for several hours each day...hence the audio books. This is one book I wish to have in print as well.
Besides being entertaining, this story has a very positively approach to life and to the obstacles that one might face in their journey through life. I plan to give it to my daughter this Christmas because of what she can learn from Ms. Perino's experiences.
I enjoyed learning about Dana Perino's career arc, especially some nice stories (with good detail) about her years at the White House. Quick listen and great narration.
I found the readers voice and manner a bit syrupy. Would have enjoyed it much more had Dana read it herself.
Her story is pleasant enough. Good career advice at the end.
I have found this book to be very optimistic, easy to digest and very motivational. Just another example that one is able to achieve almost any goal in America if enough passion, time and effort are applied.
