Publisher's Summary

"Lebanon" Levi Stoltzfus, star of the hit Discovery Channel reality show Amish Mafia, delivers a sizzling tell-all about Amish life today. From the forbidden joyrides to the senseless shunnings to the colorful family feuds, he shares his frank insider's view of this fascinating and secretive society.

You've seen the pretty postcards and the shiny tourist brochures. Now, Amish Confidential takes listeners beyond the buggies, bonnets, and beards - into the hidden heart of back-roads Amish country. The all-night field parties. The prohibited automobiles. The nosy neighbors and prissy tattletales. It's all here: the many "English temptations". The stitch-and-bitch quilting bees. The sex, alcohol, and illicit Wi-Fi. And the random acts of kindness and remarkable forgiveness, too.

Interest in the Amish has never been greater. The tourist counts keep breaking new records. Amish Mafia is back for a fourth blockbuster season on TV, joined now by several spinoff shows. Amish Confidential taps right into America's fresh fascination with the throwback Amish. Stoltzfus weaves his never-before-told personal story through some high-profile Amish episodes that rocked the news in recent years, including the Nickel Mines shooting massacre, the Amish sisters' farm-stand kidnapping, and the Amish-Pagan drug gang. As America's most famous Amish tough guy makes clear in every minute, there is nothing plain or simple about the plain-and-simple life.

    "Not that impressed"

It's basically a narration of the show. Not that much new information or blockbuster scandals or taboo revealed.
    My opinion.

    "Respectful"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if they were touring Amish country.

What did you like best about this story?

Very good, informative history. The author tells how Amish people interface with the 21st Century. Keeping culture and tradition relevant to a generation facing unprecedented challenges against the importance of tradition is a relatable problem to many of us.

    Any additional comments?

After listening to over half the book, we you-tubed past episodes of Amish Mafia, which I had not heard of before this. I had to double check to confirm it was the same author! The show was nothing like the thoughtful, informative book and, sorry to say, pretty trashy.

    Story
"Levi opened a lot of doors to Amish life."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely. If you want to know more about the Amish this tell all book gives you a better insight to their lives.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Levi, I guess because he told the story. He gave a lot of info that I had heard about and now it seems to be true.

Which character – as performed by Eric Michael Summerer – was your favorite?

I can not say. But the book was good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    The Amish thru Levi's eyes.

More of a recap than a behind the scenes expose'. Could've been better but that's just one mans opinion I suppose.

I have never seen Amish Mafia or any of the other shows the author has worked on. I got this book because I live in Sarasota (near Pinecraft), and was interested to learn more about the Amish and Mennonites. This book was perfect. A quick read with plenty of interesting information.

    "Absolutely a awesome FABULOUS READ."

Absolutely Love LOVE LOVE LEBANON LEVI! I live in bucks county, pa and my family owned a vacation home in Lancaster County. I've always been fascinated by the Amish and their families and children. I think all cultures have their own way of protecting their own. Because the Amish can not call the police (I'm all for that belief myself unless someone is in serious danger) so having Lebanon levi there to protect the businesses and the people is soooo awesome. I love the idea of an Amish mafia. levi is just so passive aggressive it's almost "hot". I told my husband I want that bumper sticker "I'm protected by Lebanon Levi!" Great book Levi. I think it was super courageous of you to write this book despite the threats and all the negative backlash. I think you should be made KING Of the AMISH. YA HEARD THAT GOV. CORBIN or whatever ur name is. In conclusion Levi I'd like to say to you don't worry about no hater that's a haters job to hate. If you have 50 haters today god bless you.... you need to show them what a bad ass mafia boss you are and have 75 haters by tomorrow. my entire family thinks you rock. I will miss Amish mafia so so bad. we wish you all the luck, happiness, and love in the world. thanks for a fabulous read. I read this book in less then 72 hours and I have 3 children and a husband to take care of. thank god for the Ole ipod!! Thanks Jaime_woelk

    "glimpse into a different life"

This book did a nice job of introducing me to the world of the Amish. Being written by an Amish person added authenticity to it. I learned about the good and not so good, and walked away with a better understanding of Amish life.
