Herriot continues the rich and rewarding day-to-day life of a small-town veterinarian, and we journey with him across the dales, meeting a whole new cast of unforgettable characters - humans, dogs, horses, lambs, parakeets - all of them drawn with the same infinite fascination, affection and insight that made James Herriot one of the most beloved authors of our time. And all the stories are warmly, evocatively told by the world-renowned "voice" of Dr. Herriot: Christopher Timothy.

The second book in the series. Though not quite as good as the first (5-stars) I thoroughly enjoyed it. The anecdotes are witty and well written. I would recommend this book to all who like animals.
I didn't like the music that would come in the middle of a story (despite the chapter change) and the reader would have to talk over the music before it faded out.
I also wish the chapters of the book matched the Audible chapters. It's confusing.
These two complaints are true of the 3 major Herriot books.
Love Christopher Timothy. Very delightful way of reading the stories and doing the accents and tones of voice.
I forgot how beautifully written these books are, not having read them in over 20 years. If you haven't read them, there is something missing from your life.
Wonderfully interpreted by Christopher Timothy.
It is, of course, the only way you can descibe tthis delightful tale,of an English country animal vet in the 1940s. Wonderful narration of the books is in store for you to a place that none of us can ever go again. Please read them all.....
Yes, the stories are timeless. Interesting, heartfelt and very enjoyable.
He did a great job bringing this story to life!
