Publisher's Summary

All I See is Mud is the story of Stan Dunkley, a soldier in World War I and the grandfather of author Andrew Dunkley. Originally presented on ABC Radio in Australia, this is a deeply intimate re-telling of an ordinary soldier and the terrible conditions he endured in the trenches along the front lines of the battlefield. For almost three years, Stan Dunkley fought, and survived, and here his story is preserved as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the darkest times in human history.

    "A Must"
What made the experience of listening to All I See is Mud the most enjoyable?

The day to day accounts from the soldiers view.

What was one of the most memorable moments of All I See is Mud?

All of it was memorable. Although the stand out is the recovery from being shot in the mouth and being passed off as one of the dead.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Brought a tear to my eye at times.

    Any additional comments?

A must for those interested in Australian war history.

    "Great insight into WW 1"
What made the experience of listening to All I See is Mud the most enjoyable?

This book is narrated beautifully by the grandson of the main character. A great insight into the total innocence of these young men who were thrust into this bloody and brutal war, yet seemingly they kept their innocence and humour.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The final ulogy about the main characters life after the war, what were men made of in those days? Truely a different time full of great men such as Stan Dunkley.
