Publisher's summary

In Adventures in Darkness, Tom Sullivan takes listeners through the adventures of his monumental 11th year. Blind since birth, Tom lived in a challenging world of isolation and special treatment. But he was driven to break out and live as sighted people do.

Listening to this book is a hair-raising, heart-warming experience that culminates with the story of Tom's reliance on God to realize his dreams of a "normal" life.

Awesome kid

All kids should be as blessed-can't harness the strong willed child. Inspiring read, truly enjoyed.

Excellent book, easy read, great experience

In this book, Tom Sullivan writes about his experiences growing up as a blind kid. It describes how early on in life, he refused to accept his disability as a limit, and that he'd rather see it as an opportunity.

It seems that the time in his life that is covered in this book, was the beginning of Tom's incredible journey to show anyone who wants to see, what is possible if you set your mind to it, no matter what. The escape from 'The Institution', learning how to play baseball, and the boxing match with his arch-rival, gives a glimpse of the drive behind many of the actions in Tom's life.

Reading this book, I often forgot that the author was blind. The fact that he's narrating the book himself, is just a small indication that he can do anything, regardless of what others may think of a 'Blindy'.
