Publisher's summary

In A Royal Duty, Paul Burrell reveals the truth about Princess Diana, as well as a faithful account of her thoughts. He was the favourite footman who formed a unique relationship with the Queen. He was the butler who the Princess of Wales called "my rock" and "the only man I can trust". He was accused of theft, then acquitted following the historic intervention of the monarch. He was the Princess' most intimate confidant - and may be the only person able to separate the myth from the truth of the Diana years.

A Beautiful Tribute

It was Amazing to feel the love, betrayal, anger and forgiveness in Princess Diana's own words. Mr. Burrell has done an Excellent job of letting us know who the Princess was and he did it very tastefully. I am sorry for the ugliness Mr.Burrell had to endure with the trial. But the truth prevails. Nice work Mr.Burrell!

A Fresh Perspective!

This book was great! For the first time in a long time, I feel like I learned something new.

Paul Burrell’s recollections add new elements to a story we all know so well by now.

I am glad I read it.

Nice tribute

well written and very sad how he was treated, I believe him and can't believe that the people who knew him so well didn't realize he was clearly telling the truth about things

Lovely!

This portrayal of Diana is beautifully written by someone who obviously loved her and wanted to preserve her memory with honor.

To Diana with Love

This is one of the Best books written about Diana, Princess of Wales. I was suprised by the cutthroat attitude of the Royals, and the lack of communication and respect between the Royal Families. Very interesting from beginning to end!!!

Thank you Paul for a wonderful book about the Princess Diana!

I don’t know where to begin. I could not stop listening to this book. It gave a great look inside Princess Diana’s life and I feel that who else could write a more truthful book about her than someone who was so close to her for such a long time. I also love the fact that it’s Paul himself narrating it. You can hear his passion through his voice. I lived through that awful day of Princess’ death, cried, listened and cried. Not sure how Paul handled everything so well that day and the nightmares that followed... Thank you Paul for staying strong and sharing your story. Thank for your wonderful wife and boys who stood at your side even though feeling many times neglected. Oh, I could go on and on but one thing I is for sure, everyone should listen to this book. It is beyond worth it! Thank you! <3

Love it

Love everything about this book, the history, stories, etc. It has given me a glimpse into Diana's life and who she was. I firmly believe she was murdered so the jerk could marry his mistress.

Best Audible I've Listened to in Forever!

Paul Burrell's book begins with a sneak peak into some of his last conversations with Princess Diana, then backtracks into his own life that led up to his working for Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II.

I loved his descriptions and stories of the daily goings on within the royal household. It read like a real life Downton Abbey with it's description of the upstairs and the downstairs, the routines, the schedules, the precise ways of doing things, with a little bit of drama.

Eventually Paul is asked to work for the then Prince Charles, now King Charles III, and years later, Princess Diana.

This audible is read by the author so perfectly. He is so respectful of each of his Royal employers. I not only highly recommend this audible, but I will be listening to A Royal Duty again and again, I loved it so much.

This is not a story of the members of the Royal family written by journalists, but by someone who was personally with the family inside the various homes, from early morning long before they were out of bed, till late at night. The author is not sharing information gleaned from interviews, but by observation, experience, first hand accounts, personal conversations, and correspondences.

Paul Burrell' was in a unique position as someone working personally for various Royal family members to write a diary, journal, or love letter if you will, that is a beautifully written historical account of a caring butler in the service of a very special family.
