Publisher's summary

The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi.

13 Hours presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the 13 hours of that now-infamous attack.

13 Hours sets the record straight on what happened during a night that has been shrouded in mystery and controversy. Written by New York Times best-selling author Mitchell Zuckoff, this riveting audiobook takes listeners into the action-packed story of heroes who laid their lives on the line for one another, for their countrymen, and for their country.

13 Hours is a stunning, eye-opening, and intense audiobook - but most importantly, it is the truth. The story of what happened to these men - and what they accomplished - is unforgettable.

excellent in every way

What made the experience of listening to 13 Hours the most enjoyable?

I can't say I "enjoyed" this. It was horrific because it was true. The narrator was the author and that is interesting. The writing and the performance were excellent.

War

The words of the operators describe to a un comfortable degree of the uncertainty in war.

This book is brutal. With it’s unrelenting shock you experience as the situation unfolds in real time as you read/hear the word.

The voice acting is amazing. I loved every word as it filled me with fear, confidence, hope and eventually the hard fist of reality.

This is the first book that I have listened to or read that a movie was made from it. I was so impressed that they both were identical in story. Thank You!

Liked it a lot

I love books that talk about war from the perspective of the people who experienced it. No fuss, nothing sugar-coated. Just a view on the heroism and tragedy from the battlefield while you try to keep yourself and your buddies alive.

Great book.

The book is better and different than the movie. The narrator did a good job and held my attention the entire book.

A tribute to bravery, a review of battle.

This blow by blow, moment by moment hour by hour honest report of what actually happened and didn't happen in Benghazi is both uplifting, angering, and sad; very sad. In this account, written by the men who did battle to save the lives of other Americans, is a non biased non political account of actual events, the reader can draw their own conclusions as to what narrative to believe, the one who they tell, or the one told by the politicians and the noncombatant political personnel who were in charge of the compounds in Benghazi. Who can measure the cost of a single moment of delay in battle? In this case we can all see if we care to see, the cost of the delay of deploying men ready to go for almost an hour, sitting within earshot of the compound where ambassador Stevens and others were at, as well as those at military bases who could have been deployed far sooner to save the lives of the two former seals who died. The confusion and lies that were told to those of us at home only served to create a larger breach between the political class and the common people, who eventually almost always find out the truth, even if it's not complete. One must wonder knowing what we now know, how much we have yet to learn about this tragic few hours that cost the lives of courageous Americans, and forever changed the lives of others. May truth prevail, and justice be done.
