Publisher's summary

Shocking, illuminating—and filled with exclusive interviews with leading CIA figures themselves—Big Intel recounts the dramatic story of the rise and Cold War heroics of the CIA and the American intelligence apparatus followed by its unfortunate slide into Kafkaesque Deep State dysfunction.

How the Left Subverted the CIA

It wasn’t a foreign power that subverted the CIA, turning the world’s best spy agency into a bumbling—and dangerous—tool of the federal deep state. It was internal corruption driven by leftist ideology.

The left used to loathe the CIA. And with good reason. Our intelligence agencies were known for their anti-communism. But those days are gone. Convinced that conservatives are a greater threat to our security than foreign adversaries are, CIA bureaucrats are happy to meddle in domestic politics.

Dr. J. Michael Waller, an intelligence veteran, reveals how the CIA—once stocked with daring and patriotic liberals dedicated to protecting America’s interests—became just another bureaucracy, with ominous consequences. From its dramatic beginnings in World War II, he traces the history of the CIA to its back-alley fighting against communists around the world to its notorious intelligence failures and its secret successes.

What went wrong? Relying ever more on machines instead of human beings, the CIA absorbed the values of Big Tech. An obsession with wokeness drove out talented spies and analysts, and soon the agency was running domestic political operations against the American people themselves.

Thoroughly documented and based on exclusive interviews with many leading CIA figures, Big Intel provides shocking revelations about a powerful government agency gone rogue.

Disturbing and explanatory

The contents of this book are disturbing, well researched and becoming more and more accurate each day. I really appreciate the author not only providing the documented history and outlining the major issues but also providing some excellent solutions. Great book.

Dense

The audio version of Waller’s work is too much to consume, so I will now purchase the book in written form so I can study it more thoroughly. One of the best reads in a long time.

Outstanding! I Couldn’t Put It Down.

Be prepared, this is an eye opening story everyone should read. Explains the origins of Critical Theory and why we have so many problems within the FBI, CIA and other intelligence agencies.

Great Book on the Corrupt US Intelligence Organiza

I highly recommend this book.

This book summaries the history of the corrupt US Intelligence Organizations. The author, J. Michael Waller, also covers the current corruption. The history is very interesting, but the book shines when the author gives personal stories about his dealings with the CIA and FBI. Also, I loved his discussions on the current corruption, such as Peter Strock.

Some other high points were
- The history of and the problems with the Patriot Act.
- Communist Clapper (Why did Bush appoint him?).
- Details of the Durham Report.

Waller covers ways to dismantle the FBI, which is much needed for those in power, but this chapter is a little dry, with me trying to figure out the specifics of getting rid of the FBI. Maybe this should have been an appendix to the book. Luckily, it’s only one chapter.

Waller, is a great writer and storyteller. He covers a lot of interesting personal stories of how he started working with the US intelligence agencies – from the outside, not the inside. Therefore, he did not need FBI or CIA approval to release this book.

Great listen. One minor complaint. I think the narrator mispronounced Frankfurt. Other than that, the narrator did a great job.

EVERY U.S. citizen should be required to read this book!

The gobs of information that I didn't know. I do follow as much as I can but so much in this book I did not know! There is so much damning evidence presented here that I honestly cannot understand why so very many of these subversive cultural Marxists aren't already convicted of treason and so many other crimes and rotting in a deep dark hole.

The Rottenness is deep

A very enlightening book, a great overview of the decline of such great organizations. They must be cleansed if our Republic is to survive

so much great and scary info

This should be required reading for all high school and university people as well as every law enforcement officer. I can only hope the author is at least a consultant for the next administration.

a needed answer to a complex question

After reading so many books about the Cold War, I have for a while now wondered how we got from A-Z. This book answers it. Not a quick answer, not an easy one, but this book takes the time to do so
