Publisher's summary

Family can be the best ally - or the worst enemy. The saga continues in the third book in Bridget E. Baker’s The Birthright Series, where trust is the ultimate political weapon.

Accept the world as it is...

Days before her 18th birthday, Chancery Alamecha has more to worry about than the flowers at her celebration.

She’s no closer to learning who killed her mother. Her twin sister is missing, fate unknown. And she’s the new ruler of an empire with abilities she has yet to harness.

Or do something to change it...

When her first act as a merciful queen is met with resistance, Chancery realizes her mission to improve the world will be harder than expected. She’s attacked on multiple fronts, distrust simmers within her ranks, and her list of allies grows shorter by the day.

But to unite the Evian families and gain control of five powerful rings, the most direct path to peace may be through war...

Keeps Getting Better

I honestly don't know how this series keeps getting better and better with each book, but it does! Learning more about Noah's character, and seeing Chancery and Judica's relationship grow, and Chancery stepping into her role as the queen she was always meant to be is such a delight to read!

The Mystery Deepens

I loved the writing and the storyline for this series. I am currently sitting on pins and needles, as I record these thoughts.
This story goes back to the perspective of Chancery during the time of book 2, as Judica is missing. It continues to the time soon after Judica returns. Chancery takes over as Empress, but she doesn’t know who to trust. People turn out to be more trustworthy and more duplicitous than she could imagine.
Her sister is introduced as gay. As a Christian, this is disappointing.

Great series

Loved this third installment to the series! The action never stops, and there was never a lull in the story or the feeling that the story was dragging on. So many times by the third book I lose interest, but that was absolutely not the case here. Chancery’s character continues to face the complexities before her, while trying to determine her heart and where her love should fall. I also appreciated how the author incorporated some rather intense topics, while keeping the story hopeful and still fun.

Who to trust?

The Birthright series keeps getting better and better. With a prophecy in play and so many unknowns, Chancery keeps second guessing herself. If only she knew who to trust...

Bridget E. Baker has definitely hooked me. I am so invested in the characters and the storyline. I hope we don’t have to wait to much longer for the next book in the series.

Jennifer Jill Araya kept me fully engaged in the story. Her timing and the emotions were all spot on. I look forward to her next performance.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

The narrator is phenomenal

I could probably put this same review for all the books in this series. I read them first and absolutely loved them all, so I wanted to go back thru and listen to them. The narrator brings the characters to life! It somehow makes me feel like I know them them even better. In short, it was amazing!

Great series

I want more. There is always a bit of a cliff hanger with this series. But it just leaves you wanting to know more. The questions just keep piling higher. I don’t like how much Chancery questions every single thing that she does yet has so many convictions. I think she needs more backbone. I love Edam. I like Noah just fine too but I am team Edam all the way. Which makes me think that I am going to be disappointed in the end of Noah and Chancery get together. Edam and Chancery have been too close to getting together. Chancery is too wishy washy with two guys claiming they love her and she can’t get past I like you in returning their affection. She is making out with two guys and she is attracted to each of them and cates for them for different reasons. Put the romance aside and the book itself is super fun with lots of twists.
