Enjoyable perspective on spoken vs written words

Enjoyed this as a short introduction to what makes an ‘audible’ experience different than that of reading a story - from the author’s perspective. More interesting and nuanced questions.

I enjoyed it.

It’s short. 31 minutes. I liked learning about Woody’s past. He was not a good student. He did not like to read books. But he read some solely for the purpose of dating - because the women he dated liked to talk about books. I would have liked a longer interview.

Nice supplement for the Allen series

This is a great extra. The interviewer asks questions I'd ask. Allen is very straightforward and yet upbeat. I can't believe how many stories he has to tell--and it's 2020 and he's still doing it. Nice to hear Woody give an update in person. There's no one quite like him in films, and in text, he's priceless.

A great way to spend half an hour

Although short, this brief interview with one of America's most well-known comedians was a great break in between longer books. Imperfectly produced, the recording had a "real", raw character to it, punctuated by Allen's hesitations and deliberations over Doug McGrath's questions. I was glad I spent the time listening to it, as it was an honest and open look into the mind that has produced so much.
