This Time Together is 100 percent Carol Burnett: funny, irreverent, and irresistible.
Carol Burnett is one of the most beloved and revered actresses and performers in America. The Carol Burnett Show was seen each week by millions of adoring fans and won 25 Emmys in its remarkable 11-year run. Now, in This Time Together, Carol really lets her hair down and tells one funny or touching or memorable story after another. Listening to it feels like sitting down with an old friend who has wonderful tales to tell.
In engaging anecdotes, Carol discusses her remarkable friendships with such stars as Jimmy Stewart, Lucille Ball, Cary Grant, and Julie Andrews; the background behind famous scenes, like the moment she swept down the stairs in her curtain-rod dress in the legendary "Went With the Wind" skit; and things that would happen only to Carol. Those include the prank with Julie Andrews that went wrong in front of the First Lady; the famous Tarzan Yell that saved her during a mugging; and the time she faked a wooden leg to get served in a famous ice-cream emporium. This poignant look back allows us to cry with the actress during her sorrows, rejoice in her successes, and finally, always, to laugh.

"I read This Time Together in one sitting and when I finished I felt like Carol had been sitting beside me telling me these wonderful stories of her life. It's funny, it's endearing and very moving. I cannot recommend it highly enough." (Julie Andrews)
"I grew up watching Carol Burnett. She's an amazing actress, talented writer and legendary comedienne. She inspired me to do what I'm doing today. And believe me, if I knew how to read, I would definitely read this book." (Ellen DeGeneres)
"Carol was a huge star on television because she was funny, daring, and always genuine. We loved Carol because we felt we knew her. With this book, we do. She trusts us with her personal anecdotes, happy, sad, hilarious and poignant. Thank you Carol." (Billy Crystal)
this book is a book of Carol Burnett's laughter and reflections as it says in the title. I love Carol Burnett I love the sound of your voice and I couldn't be happier about reading this book. thank you Carol.
I enjoyed the audio as its read by its author and the one who experienced it all....
If you grew up watching this show it is a joyful revisitation to earlier times...
Heartfelt. Moving at times.
I listened all the way through "without putting it down"...
If you are a Carol Burnett fan then this is the book for you. It will enlighten you, make you laugh, and sometimes bring you to tears.
I grew up watching Carol Burnett and each week it felt like she invited us into her life. To know some of the behinds the scenes that went on, how Carol and her family lived outside of the show, and the people and animals she helped along the way is inspiring.
Listen to her tell her own story. Better than reading the book.
I liked the stories that Carol has to tell and many were laugh out loud and others were very sad. Like all lives, she has had her ups and downs and it was nice to re-experience them with her.
My biggest issue was with some of Carol's inflections. It is certainly her style of speak, but she often ends sentences with a question mark even if they don't warrant? It got a little too much? So I tried to just enjoy the story? You get the point...
No, I would not listen to another book written/narrated by Carol Burnett.
As she is a noted comedienne, I had expected a recollection with more warmth and/or humor. Found neither and became bored.
She narrated her life well.
If the book was made into a movie, I would not pay $ to see it. The book was a real turn-off.
Years ago at the very worst time in my life I happened to catch on TV an old episode of the Carol Burnett Show. Wow, laughter is truly healing. So when I think of Carol Burnett I think of laughter. What a wonderful legacy to leave the world, what a wonderful book, what an absolutely wonderful woman!
Hearing Carols words...so comforting...what stories!!
Carol is so down to earth...and hearing the Lawrence Olivier story...LOL!
Every scene...how could you choose just one?
The story of Cathy...the story of Carrie - heartbreaking, tearjerking
I've grown up w/Carol Burnett...she surely doesn't disappoint. I learned a lot about her life & of course respect & LOVE her even more.
