Mom of three
I wanted to read the book because of the movie, but there were some significant differences. The book provided less of a love story than I expected. I was actually a little disappointed by the story as told in the book. The narrator did a good job, though.
This book is excellent all around. It is a great story - romantic, some good tension, great characters in both the past and present, good dialogue and a great narrator. I high reccomend it if you like this type of read.
The movie was a hit but the book is a long boring cat nap. Unlike A Walk To Remember connecting with the flat characters in this book takes some make believe. Life is more complex than that. Going back and forth with the memories by the narrator, made it more believable. Too much graphic love making was a turnoff. And only a man would describe it from a women's perspective like that. But hey, if it took this book to give us that great movie then why not? :)
I have been listening for an hour now and it is soo boring. My commute to work is painful enough w/o adding a boring narrator to the mix. I will give it another shot on my way home but I seriously hope this gets better soon.
It's a nice book from Nicholas Sparks, it has a very disgusting love scene that narrated is even worse. Without this part the book is very good and transmit a strong message. The author could have spared the reader from a useless sex description ...
Don't waist your time and watch the movie, it's the first book that I see that is not as good as the movie...
My first Nicholas Sparks and it was fantastic. The love story was touching and romantic without being gushy. You rarely see or hear of true love like described in this book. It was very refreshing.
