"Explore the world of music with a passionate guide"

Exceptionally well written. James Naughtie (of Radio 4) is passionate about the history of music, and it's infectious.

Before listening I knew little about what most of us call "classical" music - but recognise some of the more well known stuff.

I didn't regularly listen to such music, but thought learning a little more might be interesting. I was wrong. It was not merely interesting, but gripping.

I've since bought 5 classical CDs and enjoyed them so much.
Naughtie gives us just enough background and colour to engage, without getting high-brow in any way. The music is the star of the audio-book, with history and the composers lives as the setting.
In my view, this is what audio-books were made for.
Parts one and two make up 12 hours of listening bliss.
