"Do not believe the hype"
For some reason I could not get into this book. It is written in a very fragmented way and did not flow for me.
Stopped less than half way through bored with it.
"TheGirl wih the Dragon Tattoo"
A Slow starter but once you get into it , difficult to switch off.
Lots of twists and turns. well written. Found some of the Swedish names difficult to keep in mind over the full story.
"I'm sure it's a good book but..."
the narrators style of reading is annoying the hell out of me.
There doesn't seem to be any differentiation between the speech and the narrative.
Going to find another book to listen too and them come back to this one another time.
This books lends itself so well to listening, the plot is well developed and you find yourself empathising and engaging with various characters in the book. A well narrated good listen.
"It Gets Better - Stick With It"
Well, after hearing all the hype, I thought I would give this a listen.
I have to admit that if I had had to read this book, I would definitely have given up after the first ten chapters, because all that economic background stuff is so dull, dull, dull.
But it gets better and then betterer, and bettererer still !
Worth sticing with, but the first hour is pretty pants.
"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"
Excellent!! Like his Swedish counterpart Henning Mankell he is realistic and can spin a good story.Despite being long winded he keeps the listener involved and on the edge of ones chiar. It's a great shame he died after he wrote the trilogy and did not see them published.
very good book on long boring trips. i was enthralled from start to finish. very well read too.
"Worth sticking it out"
This book took me so long to get into! The exceedingly slow pace and dull narration were, to begin with, so extreme that I listened to this book on my ipod to get myself to sleep. It worked so well that after just 15min or so I would doze off, it took months for me to get anywhere and I wasn't even sure what- if anything was happening. Then one night everything changed, I went from lying comfortably to sitting bolt upright listening avidly. I've been hooked since and have just downloaded the third in the series.
Slightly disappointing is that the erratic changes of pace are solely down to some graphic, at times gratuitous violence; leaving one feeling a little guilty about appreciating it. Sex and violence sell though and I doubt this would be a bestseller without it- it would be too boring. Hopefully the author will balance this out a bit in future so that his books are enjoyable all the way through and a bit less seedy.
"the girl with the dragon tattoo"
This book is very slow to get started and sometimes I find it confusing with names and places although I think that's because it has been adapted to English but once it's started after about an hour or so you won't be able to stop listen to it is one of the best stories I've ever heard this book is absolutely brilliant
"Slow to start"
This took quite a while to get into, but is well worth the wait. The journalistic style is quite tedious when sifting through all the background, but I guess the scene has to be set some how. This has to be listened to though if only so you can get on to the next two stories which are amazing
