Publisher's summary

Lisbeth Salander is a wanted woman. Two Millennium journalists about to expose the truth about sex trafficking in Sweden are murdered, and Salander's prints are on the weapon. Her history of unpredictable and vengeful behaviour makes her an official danger to society - but no-one can find her.

Mikael Blomkvist, Millennium magazine's legendary star reporter, does not believe the police. Using all his magazine staff and resources to prove Salander's innocence, Blomkvist also uncovers her terrible past, spent in criminally corrupt institutions. Yet Salander is more avenging angel than helpless victim. She may be an expert at staying out of sight - but she has ways of tracking down her most elusive enemies.

In some ways better than the first part

Provides intense insight into Salanders past and why she is how she is.. well worth the long read and definitely needed to go on to the 3rd book!

One of my top ten audiobooks

This too-short series is a terrific read/listen. The characters are are rich, vital, and quirky with distinctive character flaws that make them incredibly tangible. The balance of character development and driving storyline is flawless. I found all three of the books very hard to stop listening to and the characters and their predicament stayed with me even when I wasn't listening. Once you've read one, you won't be able to stop and you'll be sorry when they're over.

Good but far to graphic for me

The series is great, just a little to believable and graphic. It follows on well from the rpevious books, but I am afraid I did not like many parts due to the depth of voilence and calousness.

Loved it!

Beautifully narrated and a fantastic story. Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Intricate plot but not so complex that it was difficult to keep up with. Characters wonderfully 'drawn', flawed yet still likeable. I will listen to this, and the two subsequent books, again. Well worth the listen

Shocking and brilliant

A shocking and brilliant story, The Girl Who Played With Fire sees Lisbeth Salander's past come to haunt her, when she is sudddenly on the run from police for a double murder. The journalist Mikael Blomkvist is determined to help unravel the mystery and to prove Lisbeth's innocence. This story takes so many twists and turns, it ends on a cliffhanger and is absolutely brilliant.

Continuing a high standard

Enjoyed listening to this second book more than when I actually read the trilogy when first published. The fluent narrator, Saul Reichlin, made me listen to the many mathematical equations and complicated computer language, which I have to shamefully admit I skipped during my initial reading, I was ALMOST tempted to put them into practice. The ease with which he pronounced the unpronouncable made such a difference to the enjoyment of this great epic. He kept me glued until the end and I was truly delighted to download the final third book. Bravo Mr Reichlin

Worth the wait

I know that a lot of people say that they can't get into this series because they can't get past the beginning of the first novel, however PERSEVERE! The first book takes about 1/2 the book before all the introductions are over and the story really begins. The second book it took about 1/4 of the book before it got good and the third, it was excellent from the very beginning of the novel.
