Mr. John H. Johnson, the founding father of Negro Digest turned Johnson Publishing whose publications include Ebony and Jet including Fashion Fair Cosmetics, speaks eternal words of wisdom that may be applied by any entrepreneur or business man or woman.
You will agree that this audio book is very genuine in content. My opinion is it was created as a testimony to tell of the speaker's journey from poverty to wealth not to sell its written version.
Just as Mr. Johnson died, the audio book Succeeding Against The Odds is rich with the drama of Mr. Johnson's journey with very little comedic moments.
I'm a fabulous 50 year old, 23 years married, a mother of 3, who enjoys all things crafty and creative.
This book is inspiring and informative. One of the best entrepenural books I have read in a while.
It was great to hear how he struggled and how hard work pays off, everyone won't become Rich after this but keep doing your purpose and you will be successful.

I am a life long reader and lover of books. The audio format of books is something I recently started to take advantage of, it is extremely practical in an extremely busy world. Iam loving the audible expirience.
A wonderful success story. A must read for anyone seeking inspiration in todays crazy society.
It was empowering to hear the voice of the founder of the Johnson Publishing Company, John H. Johnson. Sometimes we don't get a chance to hear great people tell their story in their own voice before they pass on. He was a phenomenal businessman and a role model for all Americans to follow!
Such wonderful wisdom for me as a young media executive. Narration by the author makes it so much more personal and the message much more poignant. Highly suggested, quick read.

"Succeeding Against the Odds" by John Johnson is one of my favorite books. I've re-read the print version several times over the years. It was exciting to learn that an audio version was available, read by the historian Lerone Bennett.
"Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. Johnson references this book in his autobiography. The two books complement each other well because each is about achieving goals in the face of adversity.
Johnson's decision to train his daughter, Linda, to take over the family business. Longevity is beautiful.
How one man faced adversity and won.
