I loved everything about it. Funny, inspiring, interesting... I only wish it was twice as long

i love ellen but...

this book seemed a little pointless. it's funny but maybe only because I'm hearing it in her voice with her delivery. not much valued content.

Short and Redundant with Previous Material

Would you consider the audio edition of Seriously...I'm Kidding to be better than the print version?

I always enjoy hearing books read by the author and this is no exception.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

This audiobook was surprisingly short. Much of the material was redundant with Ellen's stand up comedy - particularly her HBO show.

Have you listened to any of Ellen DeGeneres’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ellen's reading of the book was good, but actually not as emotive as her standup. It almost felt like it was something on her "to do" list rather than something she was inspired to do.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nope, no extreme emotion. A few smiles and maybe 1 or 2 out loud laughs, but I was expecting more.

Turned off halfway through.

I love Ellen as much as the next person, but I was disappointed with this book. I thought I would get some really funny stories, told in a true Ellen DeGeneres comedic way, but instead the book was preachy and came across as a self help book. I laughed here and there, but became annoyed with hearing about her secrets to a happy life and turned it off.

Loved it!

I loved her book! It is so heart warming and inspiring to follow your self and dreams. She also is so hilarious definitely recommend it!

Exactly What I Needed!

This audiobook was EXACTLY what I needed! Positively Hilarious bits & fragments of random information throughout the entire book! ..a Great little afternoon pick-me-up.

What an amazing book!

I loved the way Ellen told this story. It was like she was talking directly to me. I feel as If I know her a bit better; and she know me too.
I would certainly recommend it to all open-mined people who enjoy a good chuckle.

We’re On A Road To Nowhere

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would want to hear about personal aspects and stories from the author’s life, one that is almost certainly filled with a combination of heartbreak and joy. I understand the author wants to keep her life private—which is fine. Perhaps better to stick to standup than waste readers’ time with what felt like filler. I really felt like she was just killing time. (Which she even professes to be doing in one or two instances.) The worst part was that I felt she was killing my time—time that I was hoping to spend learning, growing, with a few laughs mixed in.

What does Ellen DeGeneres bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her personality. I can even imagine reading it.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Would you try another book from Ellen DeGeneres and/or Ellen DeGeneres?

I would be reluctant to.

What was most disappointing about Ellen DeGeneres’s story?

This book was not that funny! I love Ellen, and I find her career to be inspirational. However, this book was unstructured, not funny, and lacked in content as well. She didn't seem to share much at all in this book.
