Publisher's Summary

Raised Eyebrows is the bittersweet story of the last years in the life of Groucho Marx, told by a young Marx Brothers fan who was fortunate enough to work for Groucho as his personal secretary and archivist, right inside Marx's Beverly Hills home. In addition to getting to know his hero, the author was able to spend quality time with Zeppo, Gummo, Mae West, George Burns, Bob Hope, Jack Lemmon, SJ Perelman, Steve Allen, and scores of other luminaries of stage, screen, TV, and literature.

The downside of this dream-come-true was getting close to his idol as the curtain was coming down, and dealing with Erin Fleming - the mercurial woman in charge of Groucho's personal and professional life.

Raised Eyebrows is filled with never-before-heard anecdotes.

    "A MUST HAVE"

I LOVED this book! It's told by Steve Stoliar who, as a 19 year old Marx Brothers fanatic, was hired as Groucho's secretary and archivist and went to work IN GROUCHO'S HOME during the final years of Groucho's life.

The insights into Groucho's last years are engrossing, the anecdotes of dinner parties are hilarious, and the account of Groucho's decline and the way he's treated by Erin Fleming is heartbreaking.

The audiobook edition is wonderful. Mr. Stoliar is a wonderful reader- he performs the book, doing uncanny impressions of Groucho and other celebrities who appear in the story.

    I can't recommend this enough.

"Excellent. Great Groucbo impressions by narr/auth."

Impressive biography of Marx's final yrs - more of a tv fan " you bet your life" than movie fan. Better than I expected.
