Publisher's summary

Do you want to increase the quality of your pictures and make them world-class? Are other Photoshop tutorials too complicated?

Then read below.

Photoshop is of great importance to engineers, bloggers, designers, artists and promotors in the digital world. Every item of value needs a quality picture to go with it. Everyone needs a piece of Photoshop. However, most of the current manuals on Photoshop are either a 600-page encyclopedia or poorly written blog posts that are impossible to replicate.

This audiobook can be used for multiple Photoshop versions. In reality, the developers at Adobe cannot have their consumers constantly relearning software. Each version has implemented changes, but rarely is a tool taken out of the software in the same process. Even rarer still is a basic tool removed, which will be the types of tools we review here. Therefore, the version doesn't really matter so long as the version is between CS5 and up. CS4 and below may be lacking some of the tools added into CS5.

Additionally, even if you decide to use a free open-source software like Gimp later down the road, you can bring what you learn from this software over to that software. The symbols used to represent the tools may change between software, but you will find that many of the tools are the same. This is because the tools are based in art and art techniques, which rarely change over time, but do occasionally improve. This allows many artists to pick up different software and become acquainted with that software rather quickly.

Here is a preview of what you'll learn:

  • History of Photoshop
  • Basic layout
  • Different file formats
  • Initial setup for Photoshop

The narrator was very clear but gets a bit boring.

Great book for newbies to have when entering the Adobe world of Photoshop. I like how this book starts off with explanations of how other Adobe applications are used and when to use them. He gives a concise overview of how to use the different programs in a cohesive manner.
This book will definitely help you in getting started and feeling confident in using this incredible software.
The narrator speaks very clearly and concisely. His pace and delivery are right on point with the formation of the book.

Excited Audio

This book not just gives you tips on the most proficient method to alter photographs in Photoshop; however it gives you a comprehension of what the program is and how it is unique in relation to other photograph altering programming. It gives fundamental data on Smash, in light of the fact that Photoshop investigates memory thus do a few pictures. It gives fundamental data on renditions of Photoshop, working frameworks it is good with, arranging, and camera information.

Very informative A must for Photoshop beginners!!!

The beginning of the book is a little dry (but that is probably expected for this type of book) and the narration begins a bit 'Ben Stein-ish' but that changes fairly quickly. Other than the fact that the book itself had picture references that gets obviously lost in the audible version, it is still very easy to follow. The only real issue a 'reader' may have with the lack of the pictures being referenced in the audible version, is at the very end as he walks through a total picture editing manipulation. This being said; it is still well written enough to envision a mental image of what the author is referring to. The book is very informative and answers most questions a beginner would have. Most of the book explains the program itself and what one would be using the most and what one would want to steer clear of until they become more advanced. The author does not go over the advanced tools; but being a beginner myself, I would imagine that would be far more information one would need and cause too much confusion until ready for these particular areas, and would necessitate a separate book just for advanced users of Photoshop. John Slavio does an excellent job explaining the background of Photoshop, the primary tools and toolbars, the different graphic formats, what Photoshop can and can not do, and why RAM on the computer the user is using is so important. He also explains what programs can be used for techniques that can not be handled by Photoshop. I learned a lot listening to this book and would highly recommend this to anyone. The only reason I gave an overall rating of 4 stars instead of 5 is strictly because of the lack of ability to see the picture references in the audible version. This; however, is to be expected though I may recommend getting the actual text version if the reader needs this reference to fully understand. This audible book was presented to me free for my full honest review from a beginners perspective.

Help for Photographers

This Photoshop book is a very in depth manual on using the Photoshop program for photography.

Is has everything on cropping and resizing, to removing a blur, a background and then some.

They have a full set on Amazon of 3 ebooks that would compliment this one.

Okay I structuring, lots of info

Gave a lot of background about photoshop, it’s history, etc. There is a lot of walking through why certain tools and concepts are the way they are. I found it kind of difficult to follow the actual techniques without looking directly at my photoshop software while listening. But I was able to tie some things in. I’ll definitely go back to This and listen when i need it to.
