Editorial reviews

One of the most beloved and talented narrators to ever record a book, Frank Muller narrated over 200 audiobooks in his lifetime, from classics to contemporary best sellers, and won several awards in the process. Muller's jaw-dropping versatility is in full display here as he fully embodies characters, from George Smiley's weary and enigmatic demeanor to the crafty shrewdness of a Dickensian villain. After listening to this montage of Muller's best performances, listeners will find themselves agreeing with Stephen King's declaration that when Muller reads, "the blind will see, the lame will walk, and the deaf will hear."

Publisher's summary

I owe so much to Frank Muller

Simply put, Muller got me into audiobooks.

A friend gave me Stephen King's The Dark Tower series - which I tried to get through in print when it first came out. It just didn't click for me. King is hit and miss for me, personally... but Muller's reading made it magic. I work at home as an illustrator so watching TV is distracting. Audiobooks are the perfect medium. Sadly, I assumed all books were read this well and I spent time and money going through book after book looking for that special magic that only Muller had. Finally I broke down and purchased books that Frank read - even if the content wasn't to my liking. Sure enough he made it accessible and brilliant. I will miss Muller's work and his dedication to the craft and the medium.

Rest in Peace Frank Muller.

So sad he is gone

Frank Muller was one of the most versatile narrators of all time. I am convinced he could read the phone book and make it interesting enough that I would have been compelled to listen. What a shame that his life was cut short, but how grateful we should all be that he left such a legacy of narrated books. RIP, Frank. We miss you.

A huge loss to audible listeners

Thank you Audiobook for this wonderful tribute to Frank Muller, one of the best narrators of our time. His narration is unparalleled and he brought Dickens's novels to life for me. The audiobook community has lost 2 giants recently: Frank Muller and Kate Fleming (a.k.a. Anna Fields). In their loss, I feel I lost friends as they had been regular companions on my daily commute. When you start searching for audiobooks by narrators versus authors, you know you are dealing with someone special, a unique voice, a captivating delivery and a captivating narration. RIP Frank Muller. You will be missed dearly.

What a loss

I remember first listening to The Gunslinger and thinking that the narration was absolutely superb. Then I noticed George was replaced on book two and I was hugely disappointed - only to find that Frank was (in this case, for me) even better. I frequently target books read by Frank (and George as well) - but for me the Dark Tower will always be a story sprung forth from Steven King's mind via Frank Muller's mouth.

Selfishly I am sad Frank will no longer be converting any more written words directly into images and sound in my head. My heart also goes out to his family and those who knew him. What a loss.

Great tribute to the Best Reader

What made the experience of listening to Frank Muller the most enjoyable?

I listened to Frank Muller night after night as I worked at the Post Office sorting mail. He transported me to so many worlds, as has no other reader before or since. I love this tribute & hope it will introduce new listeners to him. Thank you Audible for continuing to make his books available.

What does Frank Muller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He became each one of the characters.

A Voice Still Missed

The first book I ever listened to was Frank's reading of The Great Gatsby. That was the beginning of more than a quarter of a century of listening to books. Soon after that first book, I began to choose books that were read by Frank and was introduced to many brilliant authors I would not have otherwise picked up. Long commutes, days of yard work and vacations spent doing major projects became times I looked forward to because while doing them, I got to listen to Frank's story telling. I was delighted to find this, but was crying by the end.

Such a sad loss

I too thoroughly enjoy books read by Frank. Like one of the other reviewers I would love to know the names of books that these excerpts were taken from. Can anyone help?

Nice tribute

This is a very nice montage of audio. What better way to pay tribute a person than presenting their great work? I am actually going to start looking for books narrated by him. I've heard him in the Gunslinger series from Stephen King but will venture out a bit now.
