Publisher's summary

"I've been mythicized, Mick-icized, eulogized and fooligized, I've been Cole-Portered and farmer's-daughtered, I've been Led Zepped and 12-stepped. I'm a rhyming fool and so cool that me, Fritz the Cat, and Mohair Sam are the baddest cats that am. I have so many outrageous stories, too many, and I'm gonna tell 'em all. All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex, drugs, transcendence, chemical dependence you will ever want to hear."

The son of a classical pianist straight out of the Bronx of old Archie comics, Steven Tyler was born to be a rock star. Weaned on Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, Mick, and his beloved Janis Joplin, Tyler began tearing up the streets and the stage as a teenager before finally meeting his "mutant twin" and legendary partner, Joe Perry. In this addictively listenable memoir, told in the playful, poetic voice that is uniquely his own, Tyler unabashedly recounts the meteoric rise, fall, and rise of Aerosmith over the last three decades and riffs on the music that gives it all meaning.

Tyler tells what it's like to be a living legend and the frontman of one of the world's most revered and infamous bands - the debauchery, the money, the notoriety, the fights, the motels and hotels, the elevators, limos, buses and jets, the rehab. He reveals the spiritual side that "gets lost behind the stereotype of the Sex Guy, the Drug Guy, the Demon of Screamin', the Terror of the Tropicana." And he talks about his epic romantic life and his relationship with his four children.

As dazzling, bold, and out-on-the-edge as the man himself, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? is an all-access backstage pass into this extraordinary showman's life.

High School

Well, what can you expect from Steven Tyler, the drug addicted superstar who never had to grow up? This book.

Much of it reads like listening to one of your high school burnout friends bragging about his sex and drug exploits seeking to impress you with how cool he is. Yet Tyler's story is so much bigger than your high school friend's. So I kept listening. Plus I love Aerosmith.

He philosophizes throughout but towards the end he gets a bit deeper and more practical for non-superstars like myself.

Though his non-linear approach to storytelling and frequent wanderings into rabbit trails make it a little difficult to follow, overall it was worth the ride.

Jeremy did an excellent job with onomatopoeia

Great story from the Legend Steven Tyler and read beautifully by Jeremy Davidson I will definitely check out other audio books narrated by him. I especially like how normal Steven Tyler is, even though he's a rock God Legend. I mean he is definitely out there but he has the same problems as anyone else and it really brings you down to earth listening to his story.

Sex, Drugs, and Rock n' Roll, A Primer

If you're looking for an education in sex, drugs, and rock'n roll, then this book will not disappoint. Steven (please don't call him Steve) goes into all aspects of his over 40 years of "living the dream" and some of his recounts are very graphic.

This book isn't as much an autobiography as it is a response to all of the people who have written or shared info about him in the past. It's more of a "well yeah, but you were doing drugs too," kind of thing.

This book reads like a school boy's recount of the "good old days." The years of drug addiction, sex addiction and codependency (he says he's been treated for all of those) are recalled almost with a romantic fondness. And, unless I missed it, nowhere in the book is there a an expression of remorse over the lives that were affected or promises that were broken.

I do give Steven kudos for telling his side of the story. You get the sense of who this man is and this is what I see; enigmatic, funny, rebellious, egocentric, family-loving, contradicting, brilliant and more. I also give him kudos for voluntarily going to rehab as many times as he has. You can't help but love him though. I wish him all the best.

No but screaming rock does...

What did you love best about Does the Noise in My Head Bother You??

His use of language and his delivery of the story. Also, I am stunned that with all the drugs etc. he can remember details most would not remember.

What did you like best about this story?

The honesty.

What about Jeremy Davidson???s performance did you like?

It felt like he was telling a story and not reading it. I kept forgetting it was not Steven who was narrating. His inflections etc. were spot-on narrating.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Too many to mention.

Any additional comments?

Steven is extremely talented as a blues musician but I find his high-pitched screaming/singing tough to listen to. (The last part of the book was read by Tylerico himself)

I do respect him as an author and performer.

As a photographer, I'd love to shoot him and Joe Perry. I have shot Jimi and Marley.

A little disappointed.

I'm a middle-aged babyboomer who grew up listening to Aerosmith. I'm a huge fan and have seen them in concert a couple of times so when I saw this audio I decided to give it a chance. I almost stopped listening to it after the first couple of chapters. The stories of drug use, sexual activities, etc were really starting to put me out. I did stick it out and I'm glad I did because the rest of the book was more interesting. The narrator did a good job but I was disappointed that Tyler didn't read his own book. The interview with Tyler at the end of the book was a real bonus. I can't decide if he's as immature as this book implies or is it just a facade. I heard that Tyler said that young people should read his book so they would see how drug use can ruin your life. Maybe, 18 or older but I don't think it's appropriate for anyone younger. I'm less of a fan of Tyler as a person after listening to this book but I still love Aerosmith's music!
