Publisher's summary

"I've been mythicized, Mick-icized, eulogized and fooligized, I've been Cole-Portered and farmer's-daughtered, I've been Led Zepped and 12-stepped. I'm a rhyming fool and so cool that me, Fritz the Cat, and Mohair Sam are the baddest cats that am. I have so many outrageous stories, too many, and I'm gonna tell 'em all. All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex, drugs, transcendence, chemical dependence you will ever want to hear."

The son of a classical pianist straight out of the Bronx of old Archie comics, Steven Tyler was born to be a rock star. Weaned on Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, Mick, and his beloved Janis Joplin, Tyler began tearing up the streets and the stage as a teenager before finally meeting his "mutant twin" and legendary partner, Joe Perry. In this addictively listenable memoir, told in the playful, poetic voice that is uniquely his own, Tyler unabashedly recounts the meteoric rise, fall, and rise of Aerosmith over the last three decades and riffs on the music that gives it all meaning.

Tyler tells what it's like to be a living legend and the frontman of one of the world's most revered and infamous bands - the debauchery, the money, the notoriety, the fights, the motels and hotels, the elevators, limos, buses and jets, the rehab. He reveals the spiritual side that "gets lost behind the stereotype of the Sex Guy, the Drug Guy, the Demon of Screamin', the Terror of the Tropicana." And he talks about his epic romantic life and his relationship with his four children.

As dazzling, bold, and out-on-the-edge as the man himself, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? is an all-access backstage pass into this extraordinary showman's life.

No but screaming rock does...

What did you love best about Does the Noise in My Head Bother You??

His use of language and his delivery of the story. Also, I am stunned that with all the drugs etc. he can remember details most would not remember.

What did you like best about this story?

The honesty.

What about Jeremy Davidson???s performance did you like?

It felt like he was telling a story and not reading it. I kept forgetting it was not Steven who was narrating. His inflections etc. were spot-on narrating.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Too many to mention.

Any additional comments?

Steven is extremely talented as a blues musician but I find his high-pitched screaming/singing tough to listen to. (The last part of the book was read by Tylerico himself)

I do respect him as an author and performer.

As a photographer, I'd love to shoot him and Joe Perry. I have shot Jimi and Marley.

A little disappointed.

I'm a middle-aged babyboomer who grew up listening to Aerosmith. I'm a huge fan and have seen them in concert a couple of times so when I saw this audio I decided to give it a chance. I almost stopped listening to it after the first couple of chapters. The stories of drug use, sexual activities, etc were really starting to put me out. I did stick it out and I'm glad I did because the rest of the book was more interesting. The narrator did a good job but I was disappointed that Tyler didn't read his own book. The interview with Tyler at the end of the book was a real bonus. I can't decide if he's as immature as this book implies or is it just a facade. I heard that Tyler said that young people should read his book so they would see how drug use can ruin your life. Maybe, 18 or older but I don't think it's appropriate for anyone younger. I'm less of a fan of Tyler as a person after listening to this book but I still love Aerosmith's music!

Coolest poet ever!

I love how the unique and always hip music and poetic genius comes through in this narrative. So much fun to listen to and such a sincere autobiography!!

Eccentric, wild, and intriguing.

Steven Tyler’s style oozes onto every page of this book. I love autobiographies (especially ones NOT written by professional authors) because you feel the raw perspective of the individual. With that said, I think Joe Perry’s book did a better job of telling the story of Aerosmith. The timeline was more clear and his voice was more coherent. HOWEVER, it was an absolute pleasure hearing Steven’s version. It was way out in the “stratosphere” and wacky…but absolutely delightful.

Is it the best book ever written from a literary perspective? Probably not. But I LOVED it. He did an excellent job of telling his truth and that’s what it’s all about. The tone in the first half reflects a young, hormonal wanna-be rockstar just as well as the tone in the later half reflects a been-there-done-that rock god that’s matured through his experiences.

My only complaint is that Steven didn’t narrate the book himself. The man who read did an excellent job but there’s nothing like hearing it from the source.

Overall, great read for those who want to dance a little closer with the devil himself—the legendary Demon of Screamin’.
