Publisher's summary

There are over 1,094 books on Amazon that show you "how to write a screenplay," but next-to-nothing on how to break into Hollywood, sell your script, and build a successful writing career. Until now.

As a producer, Gary W. Goldstein's movies have generated well over $1 billion in global box office receipts. His portfolio includes Pretty Woman, Under Siege, and The Mothman Prophecies.

But more importantly - over the last two decades - Gary has nurtured, mentored, and launched some of Hollywood's most successful screenwriters. In this audiobook, Conquering Hollywood, he reveals proven career-making strategies, planning and advice for aspiring (and established) screenplay writers.

The strategies in this audiobook will help you whether you're looking to sell a spec script, option your screenplay, land a writing assignment and get hired, attract an agent or manager of your dreams - or get a producer to take a meeting with you.

Advice from a professional

I listened to Conquering Hollywood as an Audible audiobook and found it filled with anecdotes, tips, and solid advice about the career and business side of screenwriting. Goldstein's advice is not glib or pretentious, and what he shares on succeeding in screenwriting applies widely to all creative endeavors. This is not a "how-to-write-a-screenplay" book; it's a how to be professional and create a career roadmap that will help you navigate Hollywood. I came away from the book feeling encouraged and empowered. Goldstein also does an excellent job in narrating his own work. I will be listening to this one again. Highly recommended.

YES

Thank you Gary W. Goldstein for this invaluable book.

I plan on using this blueprint to help create my success in Hollywood and become one of your “stubborn little snail” success stories. I hope to someday cross paths in the industry.

Fantastic! Great Insider Tips!

I don't know why Gary choose to share all his great, hard-earned industry knowledge with us -- but I'm so glad he did! While coming up the Hollywood ladder in a different era (the 70s-80s) he's still a working professional today and touches on all the changes (and similarities) from then to now.

But while sharing great stories about producing 'Pretty Woman' and 'The Mothman Prophecies', Gary has zero interest in telling war stories -- he's out to teach you how to be a professional and cut down on the length of time it takes you to get there.

Hard work, networking, and being professional win the day, and I learned tips about contracts and agreements that scores of Hollywood podcasts had never taught me.

Likable, passionate, and with a friendly tone, I found this the rare time having an author read their own book really worked for me. I loved having Gary tell me his advice, and his excitement, optimism, and professionalism showed through.

What a great resource! I felt like I was gaining secret information over a Hollywood lunch. Highly Recommended!

5 Stars for Conquering Hollywood

I just finished this and am about to start once again, from the top. This book is packed with valuable and seasoned insights that are just the garnish on top of a beautiful full plate of foundational knowledge and well tested action steps.

This book is good for anybody looking to make it as a creative in Hollywood and is looking for mentor quality counsel.

I will also be purchasing a hard copy for my shelf. These are pages that deserve a plethora of good old-fashioned dog ears.

The Best Book On Selling A Screenplay.

This book is an absolute must read for anyone hoping to make it is Hollywood as a reader. It is full of no nonsense advice about how to break through to decision makers, the power of building your network, how to nail a pitch, etc. It is NOT about writing a script. It assumes you already have a script ready to go and that it is good, so for the novice, this may be time to polish and re-polish your script.

The thing I appreciated the most was there was absolutely no sugarcoating of the truth, and the truth is it is very hard work and takes sticking with a dedicated plan for months if not years, The beauty, though, is Gary really has laid out a very well-organized roadmap for you, and I believe devotees of his system will do wonders with it. I plan to.
