Millions more know him as a martial arts expert, the only man in the Western Hemisphere to hold an 8th degree Black Belt Grand Master in Tae Kwon Do. What many don't know is that Chuck Norris is a sincere Christian, a man whose faith plays a role in everything he does.

Against All Odds is an inspirational story of how Norris overcame abject poverty from childhood, the effects of his father's alcoholism and desertion of the family, and his own shyness and lack of strength and ability early in his life. Norris writes candidly about how he was able to overcome such obstacles in his life, giving full credit to God.

    "Not bad"

Chuck comes across as a pretty nice guy, meek and reasonable. If you like his movie and want to know more this is not a bad choice.

    "Against All Odds (Unabridged)"

I really enoyed this book too. When Walker Texas Ranger was on TV I watched it all the time. After hearing this book. I have even more respect Chuck Norris. I wish there were more men like him. men that would respect women. God broke the mold when He made Chuck. This is such a good book. I would give it a 10+ if the rating went that high.

"A Great Read for Any Chuck Norris Fan"

I was pleased to listen to this book and was more engaged to it the further it went. It's nice to get some of the back story and learn about the fantastic luck and hard work that has given rise the legendary man that we know from work such as Walker Texas Ranger.

    Story
"This book is 5 of 5"
What made the experience of listening to Against All Odds the most enjoyable?

Probably how he got through his struggles and overcame / the christian message.

What did you like best about this story?

The action and how he became a world karate champion.

What aspect of Michael Norris’s performance would you have changed?

He needed more expression in his voice kind of sounded like a robot.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really it was really good all over. If there was it's probably the way God helped him overcome the sin in his life.

    "It was ok."

Although Chuck is legit, he didn't lead an overly exciting life. It didn't always keep my attention. The book would have been better if read by Chuck himself.

"Great to read if you are a Christian"

    I am disappointed.

A lot of this book is interesting, in that it allows the reader to know the history of this fellow...

However, a lot of this book, is Chuck Norris talking about his faith in Jesus Christ. If a person shares the same life veiw, then by all means, this is a wonderful book (as long as you like the Bush administration as Chuck is a HUGE Bush fan)

If you are not a Christian, or if you do not like George Bush, then you will likely be cringing for a big part of it.

In my opinion, it would have been better for Chuck to write two books: One about his life history, and one about his faith.

Now I know that he beleives in putting faith in Jesus Christ, and that is simply him; (and I respect that) I would have enjoyed the book not feeling like I was in church being prodded to consider Christianity.

Again, if you enjoy tales of celebs sharing their faith, then this one is a wonderful book. If you don't... You may be better off buying something else.

    "Earnest and uplifting"

Chuck Norris tells the inspirational tale of his rise from poverty to karate superstar. It's a must-read for fans of this old-fashioned, well-mustached hero. As an added bonus, it's read by his actor son, Michael, who has little clue how to pronounce many simple words, let alone get out a complex sentence. Laugh along as this semi-literate doofus tries to sputter out his father's banalities!
