The number one New York Times best-selling master of international intrigue takes readers into the bleeding-edge world of technological espionage in a propulsive thriller that feels chillingly real. Story
Boarding an airplane strikes at least a small sense of fear into most people. Even though we all have heard that the odds of being struck by lightning are greater than the odds of perishing in a plane crash, it still doesn't feel that way. Airplane crashes might be rare, but they do happen, and they’re usually fatal. David Soucie insists that most of these deaths could be prevented. He’s worked as a pilot, a mechanic, an FAA inspector, and an aviation executive. He’s seen death up close and personal - deaths of colleagues and friends that might have been prevented if he had approved certain safety measures in the aircrafts they were handling.

In April 1970, during the glory days of the Apollo space program, NASA sent Navy Captain Jim Lovell and two other astronauts on America's fifth mission to the moon. Only 55 hours into the flight of Apollo 13, disaster struck: a mysterious explosion rocked the ship, and soon its oxygen and power began draining away. Written with all the color and drama of the best fiction, Apollo 13 (previously published as Lost Moon) tells the full story of the moon shot that almost ended in catastrophe.

Swaddled inside, with perfect rosy cheeks and beautiful round blue eyes, a baby gazes up at me.

In Artificial Unintelligence, Meredith Broussard argues that our collective enthusiasm for applying computer technology to every aspect of life has resulted in a tremendous amount of poorly designed systems. We are so eager to do everything digitally - hiring, driving, paying bills, even choosing romantic partners - that we have stopped demanding that our technology actually work. Broussard, a software developer and journalist, reminds us that there are fundamental limits to what we can (and should) do with technology.

It's Arthur Hailey
i wasn't crazy about the narrator. The story was very 60-70's. Less great literature & more historical (now) fiction & view of what wethought flight would be. I wonder how many of those 707s are still flying around. The people wondering if boomers accomplished anything will be interested in the casual civil rights outrages. Not as dramatic as one expects but I bet it made a cool movie though. Some really unchanged issues.

Wonderful author and story!
Hailey not only crafts an intricate and suspenseful story, he takes you into the inner workings of whatever institution he's writing about (e.g.airport). Though most of his books are dated, you still receive a detailed understanding of the parts that make the institution flourish.
I have loved these stories since they were written and am delighted that Audible is making them available! Please continue to bring these older gems to a new audience.
