Publisher's summary

An injured football star. A shy friend from his past. Do they stand a chance when a surprise rival comes to town?

Chip Inman’s life trajectory was always meant to lead him straight to the NFL. But a nasty head injury during his last college home game threw him into uncertain territory where memories were hard to come by.

Greta Griffin, a shy dog groomer with aspirations to train service dogs, was instrumental, years ago, in helping Chip Inman graduate high school. She’d had feelings for the star quarterback for as long as she could remember, but didn’t run in his circles.

When Chip’s father hires Greta and her therapy dog to help Chip regain his memory, her feelings for him intensify. But when a woman claiming to be his girlfriend appears, Greta is reminded just how out of place she would be in Chip’s fast-paced football world.

Can Greta help Chip regain his lost memory in time for the NFL draft? And if she does, will Chip choose the life others have planned for him or the one he wants with Greta?

Good story and narration

This story was so good and I enjoyed the audio by Jay Dyess so much that I purchased all the other stories in this series to READ!! They are just as good!

Chip Inman is the senior star quarterback of his college team… headed for the pros to follow in his dad’s footsteps. Then a hard collision with another player during his last home game and Chip’s whole world turns upside down! Is football really what he wants? Who is Roxanne and why does she continually call him “Baby”? His grandfather’s farm calls to his spirit and so does Greta… a helpful friend from high school with a dog who loves Chip. TERRIFIC HEA!!! I would love for Jay Dyess to record all of these stories.

An engaging, interesting story of a college football player who was injured. his temporary amnesia gave Gretta some confidence to meet him, in hopes of stirring up bits of his memory. she tutored him in highschool so they had a few memories together.

Spoiler free review

this is a new to me author, and I really enjoyed this story. I am definitely going to check out her other books. I've listened to this narrator many times before, and as always, he does a fantastic job with the story!

With his memories gone, Chip is flying blind when it comes to the women in his life.

Fun story about the typical college jock who was prepping for the NFL when he got head tackled and was knocked out cold losing all his memories. The only one who could start to shake out memories was the cute girl who had tutored him in high school and her dog Sammy. In hs he didn’t feel good enough for her because he was a dumb jock and she had trauma in her past that made her feel less than. Then there was his old girlfriend who was betting he wouldn’t get his memories back at least until they got married. Poor Chip was really flying in the dark with his very sketchy memories so for much of the book he was clueless. this is a good story of Chip finding himself and showing Greta her worth. It is sports based and much of the storyline revolves around that, but it shows Chip as a real person and even a non sports person can enjoy it. Clean story and great narration.
I got this as a free code but I totally enjoyed this book and that’s an honest opinion. I would be willing to read/listen to more from this author.

Sweet second chance sty

I love how Greta and Chip both thought the other one was out of their league in high school but, when the truth comes out, they realize what they could have. Chip just went along with what he thought was expected of him. That happens way to often I think. Love their giving and serving spirits!

Tender, romantic performance

Jay Dyess is a favorite narrator of our whole family and I totally stalk his releases. We absolutely love him as a cowboy. I was very curious to hear him as a football player.

That said, I was not sure how I was going to enjoy dual first person pov with a single narrator. I wasted my time worrying about that. Jay is one of those rare people who have the talent and ability to do much harder things than dual narration. He handled the female pov beautifully, making it sound natural, cute and completely different – like there were actually two narrators – than the male.

And Jay as a football player? In romance? I’m really not into football players, but Jay made him sound sexy, yet sweet and endearing, tender and romantic, and there was no way I could keep from falling in love with Chip.

The story itself had good writing and plot, but reading it would not have kept me enthralled the way Jay’s perceptive interpretation did.

This story was given life and masterfully done by a voice actor who, I think, can perform anything.

I love that moment!

Do you know that moment of excitement when you discover a new author and a new series that makes you want to lock yourself away and keep reading? I just had that moment!
Jay Dyess makes listening so much fun with his range of voices. He not only picks just the right voice for male characters, but he doesn’t over-voice the female characters like other male narrators tend to do. I appreciate that.
I can’t wait to listen to more of this series about football playing brothers who all just happen to be country-boy “Adonis”-es.
I really enjoyed how sweet, clean, family oriented, and romantic the story was!

When life makes you stop and rethink your future

Really enjoyed this 'amnesia' story. It was more about what Chip wanted his life to be - and who he wanted to be with - than about football.

Winner

After the Blitz is a sweet and clean romance with interesting and relatable characters. The storyline was engaging and enjoyable with turns I didn’t expect. My husband appreciated the football aspect (he’ll never admit he listens while I cook, but I hear him chuckling or making a comment about the accuracy of the football plays). Jay Dyess is a fantastic performer and didn’t fail to impress again.
I received a complimentary copy and have chosen to give my honest opinion.

Fresh, Sweet Romance

I really loved this book! The narrator did a great job and the story was excellent! I loved the depth of the characters and the depth of the story. I love when I read a book and can relate to and understand why the main characters are attracted to each other. I highly recommend this book to anyone. It is a feel good romance about staying true to yourself even if it might not make sense to others.
