A World Such as Heaven Intended

Amara McKirnan and Nathan Simmons share a devotion to their Catholic faith but their loyalties lie on opposite sides of the Civil War. Dedicated to the Confederate cause, Amara offers to help out at her uncle’s makeshift hospital in Atlanta. Fate brought Nathan to their doorstep and into Amara’s life. Little does Amara know that the wounded soldier she cares for harbors a secret that will not only jeopardize his life but hers as well.

Follow Amara and Nathan’s story from the heart of war-torn Atlanta to the Northern Georgia battlefields to the plains of East Texas as their lives become intertwined in a way that shatters the separate worlds they once knew.

This book was awesome

I love romance novels and even though I am not into the war, this book was really nice to listen too. The narrator was excellent and did a wonderful job with different voices for the characters. I look forward to doing the next audio book by these people

Excellent book

I had the pleasure to meet Amanda at the Fond du Lac fondufest this year and I bought all the books I could. My husband wanted to read “listen” to the book too so we did the audible. We both enjoyed it instantly and was impressed with all the details and history. Very well done Amanda. We are now going to do the next book. THANK YOU

Love prevails in spite of war!

A World Such as Heaven Intended, by Amanda Lauer, narrated by Kate Tierney is a poignant story of love, loss and renewal set during the waning days of the American Civil War. The story is engaging and the narration effectively captures the mood of the period in tone and cadence. The narrator also does a great job developing individual characters with unique, identifiable voices for each. This helps to make the characters relatable to the listener. I highly recommend this book for a fun listen on audible.

Get Pulled Into the Drama of The Civil War!

The story was full of action and colorful characters set in the civil war era. The narrator moved from character to character with ease. Differentiating voices/accents. The emotions of the moment were delicate and sensitive pulling the audience into the story. Definitely recommend to others!

Wonderful piece of history

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

If you like romance and history this is for you. It’s very clean and traditional as far as romance in civil wars times. One of my favorite parts is how Amara defies all boundaries and studies her uncles medical books and starts assisting him in the hospital with complicated surgeries. (I’m currently a medical student so this was really fascinating)
I love the length that Corporal Simmons goes to protect Amara when they find themselves in a spot of danger more than once.
I applaud Amanda for using some Cherokee. Two words to be exact. I am Cherokee myself and I have been learning the language for over a year. While I am not an expert I do know that those words are pronounced wrong. That is my only issue with it but it’s just a personal one and it in no way detracts from the rest of the story.
Other then that, this is beautiful story. I love books about history with another story intertwined. I actually end up learning a lot about history and what happened from these types of books. And it done in a fun way that keeps my interest through the whole story.
