Publisher's summary

Surely she'd gone completely mad. Claire Manning can't imagine what she was thinking when she decided to help the escapee from her company's lab, but after seeing him caged like an animal, her humanitarian compulsion could not be overridden - even by the arrogant, scowling 18th-century Highlander Hugh Urquhart turned out to be.

His entire life has been taken away from him, and Claire understands the pain and torment of loss. She understands the desperation she sees in his eyes and is prepared to do whatever it takes to secure Hugh's freedom and future. What she isn't prepared for is the ruggedly handsome Scot she finds under the layers of grime and blood caked on him. Nor is she prepared to feel so much more than mere compassion for his suffering.

Contains mature themes.

Not What I Expected!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Several things. The majority of the story is redundant; chapter after chapter of Hugh and Claire's bantering. From the interesting beginning when Hugh falls into a black hole, and the future, finding himself locked in a cage inside a Science Lab I thought it was going to be an exciting book. I was disappointed that after the beginning the only reference to the Lab animals liberated by Hugh and the Indian is that they were recaptured. I wanted to hear more about the fury little animal Claire found in the lab. The impression was given that the Indian Chief was still at large.

It started getting interesting again the last 3-4 hours.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was OK.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Kirsten Potter?

I don't know. Her Narration is characterized by sarcasm. Her mocking sarcastic tone is funny at times but It gets old when used throughout the story as she did in "A Time & Place for Every Laird". She may do better narrating another book.

Did A Time & Place for Every Laird inspire you to do anything?

Yes, to be more careful choosing my next book.

Any additional comments?

I was expecting something different after listening to the sample and reading the author's summary.

Contemporary Romance with a historical undertone

This is a very nice romance. The only thing I didn't really love is the fact that this is basically a contemporary romance story and not a historical like the other books in the series. I feel the hero got used to the modern day era WAY to quickly. Other than that is a very nice complete and well developed romance with very good narration.

Loved it! Give me more!

I always look forward to this genre of Time-Travel-what ifs. They are fun to read especially if they seem plausible within the parameters set by the storyline. Postulating that a man from the past finds himself in present day society is a great theme for a story. And Fortin lightheartedly gives us pause to see our present day life with other eyes.
Fortin! You rock.
Give us more.

Drawn out and narration was almost annoying

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Well I listen to books to keep my drive to and from work interesting. This book did not do that often times the narration was basically empty chatter. The story line had great potential but it was meaningless chatter between characters that really didn't lead you anywhere. Painful but I finished it because I have to complete things.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Less repeating of the inner thoughts and more action between characters.

Did Kirsten Potter do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

She did a good job, but I think because the story it's self was so boring you almost felt her voice was droning on and on

Could you see A Time & Place for Every Laird being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe but the script would need to be modified for sure..

Any additional comments?

I wouldn't recommend this book, I like lots of romance and action this one lacked in both areas. The time travel was not that impressive

Excellent Book

One of the best books Ive listened too! A different story line from other time travel audio boks which was really refreshing. Good plot and very good character development. The narration was excellent which in my opinion is what makes a book.

Time travel romances are epic!

A good contemporary time travel romance is fun; especially if the time traveler comes to present time rather than goes back in time. In this case, Claire walks into a laboratory at work and finds a man in a kilt covered in blood. Asking for help to escape the situation, she panics and runs but thanks to the Native American who is also being held in captivity escapes Hugh finds her and they on their journey to save Hugh and escape the company . Love this series!

worse than the 1st

I'm going to stop now as I didn't care for the 1st as much as I hoped and the 2nd was worse. I read this series eons ago but would recommend reading these vs listening to them.

Great Story

This is the 3rd book in the series I listed to. Not only did I enjoy the story but the narration was terrific

Great story!

This series has been surprisingly different and very enjoyable. The author did a wonderful job drawing the picture with words and captivating your attention. The narrator brought the story to life and made you want to hear more.
