Publisher's summary

A Home in Your Heart is book two of the Love in the Old West series of historical time travel romances set in the 1800s.

Harriet (Harry) Ferguson is engaged to be married...unhappily so. All she truly wants is a forever home, something she has never had.

On a visit to her fiance’s mother in southeastern Arizona, she stops by a museum on historic Fort Huachuca, an army post dating to the late 1800s, where the wax figure of a handsome cavalry soldier captures her imagination - so much so that she can’t resist touching the figure.

Lieutenant Daniel Thorn’s duties at Fort Huachuca involve chasing renegade Apaches and Mexican bandits. One night, while on a mission to rescue stolen horses, Daniel’s duties are expanded to include the rescue of a young woman who mysteriously falls into his desert campsite.

Given that Miss Ferguson does not appear to understand where she is or what has happened to her, Daniel suspects amnesia and takes her to the fort surgeon. But Harry doesn’t have amnesia. She remembers fully well where she was when she must have traveled in time. And she remembers Daniel - her wax figure somehow come to life.

Can a modern-day woman like Harry find a forever home in the late 1800s? Can Daniel, a 19th-century cavalry soldier, finally come to believe that Harry has lost not her memory, but her heart? That she has traveled 130 years into the past for him?

Time travel for love ❤️

My romantic heart really enjoyed the idea of being pulled through time by the call of your true loves voice. The author of this story doesn’t over do the logics of time travel nor over explains the phenomenon which is good as the story is just right the way it’s written. I think some will appreciate the sweetly romantic relationship while the others might be over critical of the plot concept. I personally found it charming and enjoyable.

The story is also helped along by the lovely voice of Michelle Babb. I’m yet to hear a poor performance by this wonderful narrator. She adds so much to the story with her delightful voice inflections.

I enjoyed the story and think you will too!

Indian scouts and 2016

What a beautiful book and a beautiful love story. My favorite genre is time travel for time jumps, and this one fit the bill in every way. It’s a beautiful story of love in the old west and that of a girl from 2016 who ends up in the old west. I recommend this book it’s a lovely lovely story.

Takes you away to another place and time!

I listened to the audio version of this book. This is another good, sweet, clean, historical (western) time-travel novel by Bess McBride. It takes a lot of adjectives to describe this book! In this one, the heroine travels back in time to find horses, Indians, a handsome Army Lieutenant who's not quite free and a life she might be able to embrace as hers. If only Daniel were free, everything would be perfect for Harriet!
This was a pretty quick, easy listening audio book that takes you away from your troubles and back to another place and time. Just what I needed!

An old fashioned Western romance

Quaint characters. Traditional values. Chaste love (bar a couple of kisses) and some interesting history in the background. This book delivers on all of these.

I was a bit disappointed in the time travel aspect... this didn’t really seem to feature at all in the story. No contrast of attitudes or ‘learning to live in history’ challenges to be overcome.

Overall, it’s well-narrated with good intonations to keep it interesting.

If you’re looking for a historical romance with a twist, look no further.

Time Travel

I love time travel books. They always offer some historical events and usually romance. This book does not disappoint. Travel in time in Arizona with the Calvary. Harry travels from 2014 to the 19th century, her dress is wrong her speech is wrong her attitude is wrong for the times. Can she get anyone to believe she is from the future? Read on to find out. The Narrator does a good job with the many characters in this book.

Comments on the Reader

I just started this but the rhythm of the reader is the oddest I have ever heard. Her emphasis and cadence is way off. She almost sounds like a computerized voice frequently. She does not follow the typical rules of reading in accordance with periods and commas. She lingers on certain syllables that should not be emphasized. I am interested in the story line so I am hanging in here but had to say something!
