A Fairy King

This relatively short story has magic, fantasy, time travel, and romance. A nine year old, Hannah, receives magically appearing letters from a Fairy prince until her late twenties. The prince, now a king, physically appears at her house at Christmas. The magic of Christmas is woven through this story. An uplifting tale for this time of year. I was gifted this from the author.

Is this Magic?

I had previously read this short story, but thought it would be a kick to listen to it as well since I enjoyed it. When the author advised that there were a few promotional books available, I requested one and was generously given one. This story is a coming of age story about a girl who received anonymous letters from a boy whom she guessed was near her own age. The letters were written as if the boy was a far, a fairy. But, she was obviously skeptical. The letters continued. But, one day, near Christmas, something magical seem to happen. Then, she had a mysterious visitor. Who was this incredible individual? Could he really be her Fae friend from years ago? If you enjoy a bit of romance and magic in a fairy tale, you will enjoy this story. My only complaint was the length ... I wished there was more! Well done !

Tender, warm and captivating

Once again this author has given us an entertaining story that captures the imagination and has characters you can not help but love. It is a beautiful, tender fairy tale that takes you on a journey from a childhood pen pal friendship, to a warm, hesitant relationship heading towards love. This tale of a fairy prince and a human girl is well written, amusing and touches your heart. The narrator of the audiobook brings the story to life and does an excellent job of both the male and female voices. This is a sweet, enjoyable story and I hope the author writes a sequel. I received this audiobook at no cost and under no obligation to review.

A fairy romance

A Fairy King is a romantic fantasy that follows a pair of unlikely pen pals as they grow up world's apart.

The narrator does a great job of reading clearly and distinctly she even varies her voice for different characters.

The story has very little action as its told mostly through letters. But it is short and entertaining.

A captivating a fairy tale that draws in. I wish it were longer, but that is just me.

Short and Sweet

Although this was an extremely short story it packed a lot in 4 chapters. I only didn't like that Hannah went from a 9 year old child to a grown woman in 1 chapter. That felt a little rushed to me. However, I understand it was an easy way to quickly get to the point of the point of the story . . . Hannah's in person encounters with Cadeyrn. I liked it!

Hallmark Holiday Movie for the Fantasy set

An enjoyable short read (or, in my case, listen).
Since I experienced the audiobook, a word first on narration performance: well done, some interesting takes on the voices, subtle when it needed, good clarity.

Story: I worry this is going to be assumed to be snarky, but it's really not. It's just that the easiest way to describe this book is Hallmark Christmas Movie for the Fantasy set.
It's very cozy. Very romantic. The whole main action is centered around the holiday and involves an idealistic romance. There's very little real danger and no real action, but it's a nice escape into a sweet tale with some good writing about connection.

My main quibble is a personal one: I do not understand female characters who are so apologetic about existing. Like she assumes she's done something wrong and apologizes so easily. The saving grace is that the guy is that way too, rather than being a jerk who makes her think she really DOES have something to apologize for ... but he has a reason for automatically assuming that he has given offense because of his upbringing and coding to be uber polite, but her ... I'm like, dang, girl, who trashed your self-esteem?

But I guess I have known women like this. They exist. This story actually works better for the personality type than other ones do, because as I said, the guy isn't gaslighting her to MAKE her feel guilty. She just keeps doing it to herself.

Enchanting Novella

Short and sweet! I enjoyed this take on a pen-pal romance. Though mostly one-sided, and the characters had built each other up in their imaginations, enough was revealed to make the promise of budding love realistic. I would like to know more about the owl and how he chose Hannah, and more about how the fairy Court works, but it was a fun and entertaining listen.
