Don't miss this "impossible to put down" (Buzzfeed) novel with deadly stakes, thrilling twists, and juicy secrets - perfect for fans of One of Us Is Lying and Knives Out.

Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: Survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why - or even who Tobias Hawthorne is.

To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man's touch - and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes. Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: Dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions.

Heir apparent Grayson Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a con-woman, and he's determined to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their grandfather's last hurrah: A twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.

Good YA story, first installment, doesn't stand alone but as part of a series. Narrator's "southern" accent is overdone so I'll finish the remainder of the series in print.

can't stand the "southern drawl" but A+ story

It was okay I didn’t really enjoy the scavenger hunt or the ending. It got a little painful to listen to but I’m bored at work so I finished it!

I’m glad I didn’t buy this book

We used this book for a summer reading club and it truly was perfect! The girls were able to relate and discuss the characters and the plot! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

the mysterious nature of this book falls off pretty quickly in favor of the type of contemporary drama high schoolers might enjoy. the dialogue was a little rough at times, but besides that the story is written fairly well. if you're expecting a complex mystery novel, skip and find something new. but its got charm.

Not what I expected.

It's a really cool concept and cool story but honestly I just found myself confused at what was going on and where the characters were. The whole sister plot line was really strange and not necessary, And I thought the end was going to tie everything together but I guess Im just going to have to keep reading!! I loved the narrator, that was great.

Confusing

Such a fun mystery. The pace and twists and turns keep you engaged. I flew through this and couldn’t stop listening. Didn’t love the voices of the brothers but overall performance was good. On to book #2!

The twist and turns of this book keeps you on your toes. And four hot Rich brothers, one misters girl made for an interesting journey. Christie Moreau is one of the best narrators I’ve ever experienced.
