Publisher's summary

What if you could go back in time and change the course of history? What if the watershed moment you could change was the JFK assassination? 11.22.63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless....

King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake's life - a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.

With extraordinary imaginative power, King weaves the social, political and popular culture of his baby-boom American generation into a devastating exercise in escalating suspense.

Critic reviews

“This new epic from Stephen King rates among the best he’s written – no small praise for the man who wrote Carrie, It, The Stand and Under the Dome.” ( Trucking News)

Great story, fantastic performance by Wasson

What made the experience of listening to 11.22.63 the most enjoyable?

The notion of time travel combined with a major historical event and the consequences of changing the past, provided for a solid and well thought out story. All 30 hours were delivered masterfully by Craig Wasson, who gave each character a dialect and tone of voice that complemented Kings own descriptions very well I thought.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 11.22.63?

Going through the rabbit hole for the first time was good reading. And of course the climax at the Texas Book Depository, althrough I must admit I had guessed what would happen.

Have you listened to any of Craig Wasson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have heard only this book read by Wasson, but that performance made me search for other books just to hear him read them. He's a great narrator for sure.

Great listen

I loved this book, I just did not want it to end. The story really hooked me and after some of the dross I have listened to recently (REAMDE springs to mind) this restored my faith in books.

My First Stephen King Book I've Ever Finished

What made the experience of listening to 11.22.63 the most enjoyable?

The story is absolutely amazing. The story is so much more then the storyline.

What other book might you compare 11.22.63 to and why?

Nothing, it's unique. I loved it.

Have you listened to any of Craig Wasson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't but I give him 10 stars. This was my absolute favorite audible book and it wasn't just because the story is amazing. Craig Wasson did a wonderful narrative.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Lol, ok that's funny. The book is 31hrs long to listen to. No this is not a book I wanted to listen to in one sitting. But, it wasn't just because of the length of the book. The story was so in depth that I really enjoyed listening to it on my commute and then getting the chance to sit and ponder the concepts.

Any additional comments?

I have never been able to finish a Stephen King book before. Don't get me wrong I understand Stephen King is an amazing author. His other books are just not my genre. I honestly let that hold me back a few times when I viewed this book online. I thought it sounded interesting but let the predominant genre of Stephen King's other books hold me back. If you're in the same boat I was in just buy this book. It's absolutely amazing. You wont be disappointed.

Not a Stephen King fan - until 11.22.63

What made the experience of listening to 11.22.63 the most enjoyable?

Excellent narration and a truly great story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The lead up to the 'moment' and the suspense surrounding whether the hero would succeed or not was almost palpable.

What about Craig Wasson’s performance did you like?

Craig has a wonderful speaking voice that you don't tire of, and has a knack with characterization of many different people. I especially loved hearing JFK through him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book brought me to tears several times, and I actually felt physically ill when the hero went through a terrible beating.

Any additional comments?

I spend around 8 hours a week driving and Audible is my constant companion. I have learned that not all narrators are created equal, and not all books should be read aloud, no matter how much you love them.

11.22.63 is my clear favorite and I am yet to hear it's equal for a truly great story that is beAutifully written and read. I am a fan of Craig Wasson now too.
