Standing the Test of Time

Can you believe it’s been 50 years since the first publication of Ken Kesey’s now-classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest? We’re excited to add an unabridged edition of the book to our store for the first time, and, even better, it’s performed by one of our favorite actors: Academy Award-nominee John C. Reilly (Chicago). Reilly brings a new energy to Kesey’s mental ward inhabitants as well as one of the all-time great villains, the diabolical Nurse Ratched.

…Cuckoo’s Nest has become a staple of high school reading lists, and this new performance and celebration of an American classic got us thinking about some other books that have stood the test of time. All of these anniversary editions have become listener favorites over the years and many include special introductions and interviews, re-mastered audio, or the addition of full cast recordings. From anniversaries as short as a decade (American Gods, Tuesdays with Morrie) to as long as more than half a century (Earth Abides), we think these books will continue to thrill and entertain for many more years to come. Enjoy!
