Mary Robinette Kowal's debut novel, Shades of Milk and Honey, was published in 2010. In 2008 she received the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and she was a 2009 Hugo nominee for Best Short Story. When she's not writing, Mary is a professional puppeteer and voice actor. She also serves as vice president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. She lives in Portland, Oregon.
