My current reading list has consisted of mostly dystopian/paranormal books and this was such a nice getaway. Julie James has the best method of blending together humor and romance without it getting overly cheesy. I found myself on more than one occasion busting out laughing and just giggling away at this book. It was the perfect light read to break up the monotony of my somber reading list!
Do yourself a favor and download this audiobook! It is ulroariously funny and ubersexy! I had to tear myself away to get my work done! One of my favorite listens ever!
Despite being a tad too long and slightly predictable, Kisella pulled out the charm once again with this novel. The story line was far fetched but hilarious - I found my self laughing out loud on more than several occasions. I enjoyed the split narration, it kept me wanting more through out the book. The narrators are wonderful and give a lot of life to the story. Not my favorite Kinsella book but definitely good for a light, fluffy beach read.
I can't wait for the next book! The premise behind the book is really interesting and similar (but not too much so) to The Hunger Games. The book is gripping and fast paced - at times a little gory-er than I was expecting, but not too bad. The story is great...but the narrator is HORRIBLE!! I barely made it through the first couple of chapters - she over acts intense scenes and her voice is shrill (at best) sometimes. You can always tell when a conflict or intense scene is on it's way based on the tone and hurriedness of her voice - never have I been so aware of a narrator during an audio book. I almost gave up on the audio several times in the beginning BUT I have to say, it gets better... if you're listening to this book, hang on about midway her narration gets slightly better. For the 2nd book in the trilogy I might purchase the actualy hardcopy book.
