A brutally honest memoir of talent, addiction, and recovery from one of the greatest baseball pitchers of all time. As a shy 19-year-old, Dwight Gooden swept into New York, lifting a team of crazy characters to World Series greatness and giving a beleaguered city a reason to believe. Then he threw it all away. Now, with fresh and sober eyes, the Mets’ beloved Dr. K shares the intimate details of his life and career, revealing all the extraordinary highs and lows: The hidden traumas in his close-knit Tampa family. The thrill and pressure of being a young baseball phenom in New York.

Although I don't have children, I think this would be a great book for teenagers to read or listen to. It will teach them so much about life. It will show them what happens if you take the wrong path. It teaches all about faith, family and passion. Truly, amazing story. I didn't want it to end.

An instant hit in the UK, this is the true account of a German shepherd who was adopted by the Royal Air Force during World War II, joined in flight missions, and survived everything from crash-landings to parachute bailouts-ultimately saving the life of his owner and dearest friend. In the winter of 1939 in the cold snow of no-man's-land, two loners met and began an extraordinary journey that would turn them into lifelong friends.

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

Would you try another book from Molly Harper and/or Amanda Ronconi?

I really wanted to like this book but I have to say....I was pretty happy when it was over. That rarely happens. This author is so good but this just wasn't my favorite.

If you’ve listened to books by Molly Harper before, how does this one compare?

On the bottom of the pile.

What three words best describe Amanda Ronconi’s voice?

The narration was fine...it was the story line.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I guess a little more FLOW???? I had to keep rewinding because my mind kept wandering!

    Any additional comments?

Being a writer is a gift and I admire them all. Some times you just don't get it right. It's just the way it is!!
