Basically all Ms Cabane says in this book is that other people can sense your internal state. For example, if you can get yourself into a confident frame of mind, you will appear confident. She gives a few tips and tricks for body language but barely skims the surface of what is a very useful tool in manipulating people's perceptions. All in all, I didn't think it was worth the listen, and I don't recommend it.
This book is amazing, except it is the exact same content as the power of vulnerability, which is narrated by Berne Brown herself. The work just seems much deeper and the stories a lot richer when you hear it from the author directly. When I say they're the same I really mean it. Same stories, same content, same organization.
Brene Brown is amazing. She has incredible insights into American culture and where we fall flat in terms of understanding what truly matters. I love her authenticity and her willingness to share her own stories, which always made me laugh. She's incredibly funny without meaning to be. I highly recommend this book!
I found this audiobook really disjointed. I'm a big fan of Carolyn Myss and I find her other works really powerful and insightful. Unfortunately in this one, I found her sections really angry and harsh. She spends a lot of time saying how we revel in our wounds instead of getting ourselves to do serious work. Most of the time I find her style to be very honest and straight up, but this time I found several of her sections incredibly uncompassionate. Sandra Joseph's sections were much lighter. They focused more on her personal journey, which was interesting. I was a little annoyed that she sang a broadway song after each of her sections. It just felt really out of place to me. I think either of the authors could have made a fine audiobook about this subject on their own. The truth is they don't really seem to go together and the whole book just felt like it was jumping back and forth without any connectivity.
This book is amazing. Dr. Dyer has a really nice voice to listen to, and I found all his stories funny and comforting. Unlike a lot of other books on this subject, this one wasn't repetitive or preachy at all. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to change their life for the better.
Mark Twain is insightful and funny and no matter how much time passes his work will still be relevant. He just gets people, and he knows how to take everyday stories and bring out the humor in them. I loved it!
I love all three of these authors, and I enjoyed all three parts of the book. But at times, the authors conflict each other and it makes it hard to take what they're saying really on board. It's still definitely worth listening too. Each of the authors have valid and important points. I got something from every single section. I just wish that the messages of the meaning and purpose of the darker sides of ourselves, our so called "shadows", weren't so conflicting.
This short book is all about bringing you down into your fifth chakra and connecting you to the earth, to your tribe, and to the physical world. If you're in your head all the time, this book will help bring you back down into your body. The beginning has a short meditation sequence, but after that it's mostly the author talking about connection the earth and the physical plane.
This book is just a rehash of Caroline's older work in archetypes. It's nice, but there's nothing new in this book and it's not even that detailed. If you really want to delve into all the archetypes you should get the Language of Archetypes. It's much more detailed in its descriptions and it covers all the bases. And if you're interested in how to use archetypes to help you find your path in life, you should go for Sacred Contracts rather than this book.
This book is incredible. It shows you that being overweight is as much a result of your thinking as your physical actions. It treats yo-yo dieting and binge eating as symptoms of a deep disconnection from our beautiful, true selves. This book is loving and empowering and kind. Anyone who struggles with their weight should buy it. It will radically change your perspective of your body and finally show you how to shed the unwanted weight.
This book is aligned with the idea that mastery of any subject or art takes time, not talent. The author gives numerous examples of people who put in the effort to become masters. He also provides some useful information about the pitfalls that occur on the road to mastery. I enjoyed it, but was a little annoyed that all the stories are repeated about 3 times each over the course of the audiobook.
