I was so excited when I saw that Ian Rankin was resurrecting John Rebus. This one was as good as the previous series which were uniformly excellent. I love the descriptions of Scotland and it's people, the story itself, and the narration was excellent.
I've enjoyed this series very much. The narrator is the same for all of them and he's perfect. The stories and the descriptions transport me to another place, and for that, I'm grateful.
I think this is such an excellent series. I relate to the characters, the story moves at the right pace, and the city of Edinburgh comes to life. The narration was perfect. Thanks to Rankin and McPherson (and Audible ) for a very enjoyable experience.
I have enjoyed this series very much. The characters are well drawn, the mystery is taut, and the narration is excellent. Can't wait for the next one. These people feel like my friends!
Maybe it's me, or a glitch with the download, but this book has no ending, no resolution, no nothing. So I slog my way through, somewhat interested in the mystery and then suddenly it's over, with no real resolution of the mystery! Who did it? I'm tempted to ask for my money back.
Beautifully written and narrated. The story transported me. I wanted it to go on forever.
I am moved to write this, my first "review", because I loved the experience of listening to this book. The writing is beautiful, the story engrossing and the narrator is perfect. I didn't want it to end. Do yourself a favor and read this book.
I appreciate and admire so much the honesty and courage of this writer. I have read all of her previous books, and enjoyed all of them as much as this one. Her writing is lyrical, but also starkly realistic and emotionally accessible.
