Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy - after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera - it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon figurehead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Mark of Athena to be better than the print version?

Well, I enjoy reading the books on my own so the characters can develop and find a voice in my head on their own. I am not a fan of using someone else's thoughts to paint the characters for me..however, once I have read the book I thoroughly enjoy listening to the audio versions while driving and during my lunch breaks at work!! While the audio is wonderful I will always be a paper page reader first!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I am a huge fan of Percy of course!!! I am also coming around to Hazel.

What does Joshua Swanson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the life that he puts into his characters they are spot on, fantastic in my opinion.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was devastated when....sorry I don't do spoilers!!! Of course there were moments that moved me!!

    Any additional comments?

Love, love, love listening to this series as performed by Mr. Swanson!!

At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

If you could sum up The House of Hades in three words, what would they be?

    Another Awesome Adventure

What did you like best about this story?

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the series thus far. I am afraid to say much about the parts I truly loved to prevent any spoilers...just know you will not be disappointed by reading this installation!

Would you be willing to try another one of Nick Chamian’s performances?

Probably not, he does not have a wide enough range for the multitude of characters he is suppose to be preforming. Also I do not find his reading tone enjoyable it a very crass to my ears.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I am afraid to say too much I'm not a fan of spoilers, but yes I found a few areas of the book moved me.

    Any additional comments?

While I was delighted by the performances on this series predecessors I found the voice actor led much to be desired. I would greatly appreciate a version with Joshua Swanson reading this book!! I would even pay the same price again for a second and what I am sure would be a much better rendition.

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

If you could sum up Divergent in three words, what would they be?

    Instant must read

What other book might you compare Divergent to and why?

The Hunger games, both books are about an artificial future utopia that is set in place by a government. Both stories have unassuming strong female leads that inevitably bring or help to bring the imposing government rain to a stop.

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this was my first experience with her as a reader.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most definitely, It was very hard to push pause and to give up for the day and go to sleep. I craved the story and wanted to listen to more. I purchased Insurgent immediately following this stories conclusion.

Would you consider the audio edition of Insurgent to be better than the print version?

Not necessarily. I am a strong advocate for audiobooks there are readers who struggle with words and audio can help them overcome barriers. I prefer to use audiobooks while having the print version in front of me as well.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Insurgent?

It was all very memorable. I loved watching the relationship between Tris and Tobias grow.

Which character – as performed by Emma Galvin – was your favorite?

Tris will probably always be my favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Highly unexpected finale

What was one of the most memorable moments of Allegiant?

The end of this story was mind blowing.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I am not sure which was my favorite but I was not a fan of how the author handled the end of the story in regards to the main character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I was instantly upset, and while this trilogy was definitely and instant must read from page one of Divergent, at the conclusion of Allegiant I wish I would have never read the series...since then the shock has worn off and I will listen again, it might be a while though.

Where does The Heroes of Olympus, Book One: The Lost Hero rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This will definitely be a repeat offender for our families play list.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of the characters have an appeal about them. Jason is fantastic and Hera/Juno wiping his memory was the epic attention getter for this book. I was instantly hooked and had to know more about him. Piper is a walking contradiction trying so hard to not be what she inevitably is. Leo, while a third wheel at times is integral for this books success. They are all my favorites!!

What about Joshua Swanson’s performance did you like?

Joshua Swanson is a wonderful reader. His inflection into the character voices help us to see new sides of the characters in the story.

Would you listen to The Son of Neptune again? Why?

My family loves the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus stories. They are full of excitement and have helped my children develop a love of reading. We will definitely listen to this story again.

What did you like best about this story?

This story helps children develop an interest in mythology and an interest in researching to find out more. In my opinion anything that helps children gain an interest in thinking and wanting to learn more is a WIN!!

What does Joshua Swanson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Joshua Swanson is a wonderful reader. My kiddos really like the voice that he brings for Hazel and Frank's Grandmother.
