I found this to ok. Not too deep if you are want more than basic encouragement. It focuses a lot on the work place in the second half. I'm not employed outside the home so that part really didn't relate to me. I liked the narrator.
Hearing Davina Porter bring back all my favorite characters after missing them was great.Least favorite part was the ending, spoiler alert
I would recommend it only because if you've already read everything else, this only goes to follow. The story doesn't really move forward too much.
I love all the characters, Jaime and Claire the best.
It definitely should have a follow up, there were too many things left undone.
After a long and twisting story, it seems like the author just got tired of writing and dumped the ending without working all the characters up to it, I felt disappointed after having put in all that time reading the book.
I loved having this unabridged version on audio, narration was great.
some parts were tedious to listen to, so maybe I would have stuck closer to the plot
this compares very well to her other performances
choices and challenges
I love historical fiction, and having lived in Fayetteville NC for a time, I remembered some of the places mentioned in the book, especially the slave auction post that is still standing in the old downtown, as a reminder of that horrible part of US history. Once again, Diana Gabaldon hooked me till the end, I have just ordered book number 7.
this is a great story, typical Maeve Binchy warmth and intrigue. The narrator has a lisp, but you get used to it.
It seemed to me that it took a while for the story to get going, but once it did, it moved right along and made me want buy the next bookin the series.
I was pleasantly surprised by this choice, the yoga sequence has a nice flow, soothing backround music with good sound quality, very focused guidance, the narrator's voice is calm.I feel like I've gotten a workout, while relaxing at the same time!! I plan to buy more. Paula
The reading by Lynne Redgrave was superb, she made my favorite characters come to life. The only thing I didn't like, was that I accidently bought the abridged version, my favorite part was edited out for the audio. Winter Solstice is my favorite Rosamund Pilcher book,
I loved this book. It wasn't hard to get into, the characters are warm and real. John Keating is the perfect narrator who gives the story a feeling of validity. If you want to curl up with a cup of tea and get away, this is it, as are the sequels.
