For Larison, a man off the grid and on the run, the sleepy northern California town of Arcata, gateway to the state's fabled Lost Coast, seems like a perfect place to disappear for a while. But Arcata isn't nearly as sleepy as it seems, and when three locals decide Larison would make a perfect target for their twisted sport, Larison exacts a lifetime of vengeance in one explosive evening.

I was shocked at the violence in this book and did not cope or appreciate the predatory nature of the protagonist and the amount of violence delivered by him. I usually love Barry Eisler, but this was way over the top for me and I felt sick listening to this short story.

At the old family manse in Louisiana, Special Agent Pendergast is putting to rest long-ignored possessions reminiscent of his wife Helen's tragic death, only to make a stunning - and dreadful - discovery. Helen had been mauled by an unusually large and vicious lion while they were big game hunting in Africa. But now, Pendergast learns that her rifle-her only protection from the beast-had been deliberately loaded with blanks. Who could have wanted Helen dead...and why?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Have recommended this to family and friends? One of the best thriller books I have come across

    Any additional comments?

Chose this book at random and could not put it down. Actually listened to it three times and enjoyed it each time. The narrator, Rene Auberjonois, was just superb. I will be looking for him in other audiobooks.

Hayley Phillips came to Memphis hoping for a new start, for herself and her unborn child. What she found was a home, said to be haunted but surrounded by beauty and friends - including Roz's son Harper. But to Hayley's chagrin, she has begun to dream about Harper - as much more than a friend. If Hayley gives in to her desire, she's afraid the foundation she's built with Harper will come tumbling down. Especially since she's begun to suspect that her feelings are no longer completely her own.

Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Susie Breck?

This is my second book of Nora Roberts. I chose this one because I had listened to THE WITNESS and loved it.

Would you recommend Red Lily to your friends? Why or why not?

Not unless they were really into romance. A bit too drawn out for me, but I still enjoyed the story.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Probably

    Any additional comments?

If you can't sleep this book will be helpful.

John Rain is back. And “the most charismatic assassin since James Bond” (San Francisco Chronicle) is up against his most formidable enemy yet: the nexus of political, military, media, and corporate factions known only as the Oligarchy. When legendary black ops veteran Colonel Scott “Hort” Horton tracks Rain down in Tokyo, Rain can’t resist the offer: a multi-million dollar payday for the “natural causes” demise of three ultra-high-profile targets who are dangerously close to launching a coup in America. But the opposition on this job is going to be too much for even Rain to pull it off alone.

What made the experience of listening to The Detachment the most enjoyable?

The continuity and flow and the subject matter was such a 'keep listening' experience

What do you think your next listen will be?

My next listen will be another Barry Eisler audiobook.

Which character – as performed by Barry Eisler – was your favorite?

John Rain of course but have to mention Docs who complements and works so well with Rain.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My extreme reaction was amazement at the total satisfaction I had in listening to such a great audiobook

    Any additional comments?

The narration by Barry Eisler was flawless. I had already listened to John Nischii and thought he was the best but they are both superb when narrating Eisler's books.
