Badly written and badly read. Nuff said. But I need 15 words, minimum... so how's the weather?
The writing: Sucked
The narration: Sucked
I LOVED this book!
If there is one thing A. American needs, it's an editor -STAT. And the narrator, Duke Fontaine needs a lesson in timing. However, this story grabbed me, and I just downloaded part 2. I guess this goes to show that you do not have to be a gifted writer to tell a good story. That is all.
Daniel Fite does good work developing several different characters in preparation for the zompoc to come. Unfortunately this short piece doesn't get down to the zombies appearing, but I enjoyed the writing, and the reading enough to search out the next part of the story.
I bought it based on the recommendations, which were great. But for my taste there was too much talk and not enough action.
Total Fun! David Wong is hilarious, and creepy, and the narrator was very good! I loved it!
The narrator. The dialog too, I guess.
The premise was great... The characters, not so much.
He has a voice for narration but no natural ability -or learned ability to read aloud...he is completely robotic. And, if you can't effect a female voice -don't do one.
I love Brian Keene - this wasn't his best, but it was interesting.
More story, this was just about to get interesting and it was done.
Too dramatic, and she sounded younger than the 13 year old in the story.
There wasn't enough of the story to cut!
The reader is a little overly dramatic, and the stories are so short they are more like essays , but I did enjoy listening.
People who enjoy books sympathetic to sociopaths.
The story didn't pull me in and make me understand why Cyrus felt the way he did. I'm not sure if the idea behind the story was to make the reader hope the main character dies a horrible death or to create sympathy for him, but I kind of wanted him dead. I wasn't sure who to root for. I think the emphasis was too heavy establishing Cyrus was 'different'.
Really disappointing effort from Rob Zombie. Whole story was just background for gore. What did I expect? Gore, sure but storytelling would have also been nice.
